T MINUS 3 DAYS

Hotline
The Hotline Number is 214-512-9439. The recording will be updated with our location on Saturday afternoon and again on Sunday. Please call the Hotline first and resort to the phone list if you have trouble finding us.

Saturday
The Saturday Pre-Party is at Margarita Mama's in Station Square; 4pm - ??
http://www.steelcityfins.org/images/preparty.jpg

Sunday
We'll start at the Station Square / Gateway Clipper parties *** around noon. We’ll head to fanvan's tailgate party ** via the Gateway Clipper or floating tube ride *. The policy specifies that NO COOLERS are allowed on board the Gateway Clipper. My understanding is that you can buy 6-packs of beer from local bars and take them with you.

* I'm bringing a wetsuit bag full of lazy river tubes for a possible float party. If we can find a boat to pull us at idle speed, we will float along the river to PNC. I've even got an inflatable floating cooler that is made for this. There are 6 single tubes and 2 double tubes in the bag. Space is limited to 9-10 people (unless you bring your own tube).

** Fanvan is bringing an RV and tailgating in one of the General Lots.
Everyone is invited! (BYOB)
Call the hotline on Sunday for the location (214-512-9439)

*** Station Square is having a Parrothead Party from 1PM to 5PM the day of the concert.
http://www.stationsquare.com/ParrotHeadParty.htm

*** The Gateway Clipper Fleet runs shuttles from Station Square to PNC Park.
They are having a boat party at the dock starting at 12PM;

General Parking is $30 for cars and $120 for RV's. General Parking gates open at 12PM. They will only let you pay for your spot when you park.

This tubing thing is sounding better and better, especially given the latest weather forecast:

Times of sun and clouds. Highs in the low 90s and lows in the low 70s.

A refreshing dip might be just the thing!! :D :D (What the hell am I doing??!! :o   )

We won't be in Pittsburgh until about 12 noon Sunday...could someone please call me Saturday night when you find out if this is doable?

Also, was anyone interested in transporting coolers to PNC? I, and I'm sure others, would be happy to help/take care of your parking fee!

Field seat holders take note!

Post by Demerara »

My apologies if this has been mentioned before, but I just received it via email. Field seat holders, take note! And does this mean the concert will be over by approximately 9 p.m.?
The following information will assist you as you make your way to PNC Park for the Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band concert at PNC Park this Sunday, June 26th.

As a field seat holder for the concert, you must have both a wristband
and your field ticket to get on the field. For your convenience, field wristbands will be distributed from two (2) designated tent locations on Federal Street beginning at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday:

* The corner of General Robinson and Federal Streets
* The Roberto Clemente Statue area

Gates to PNC Park will open at 4:00 p.m.

The concert will begin at 6:00 p.m. and there is NO opening act. Note that there will also be a wristband station inside the facility under the left field bleachers --- however, to avoid delay and long lines, your best bet is to grab your field wristband outside PNC Park at the two locations mentioned above anytime after 3:00 p.m.
Some people never find it, some only pretend
But me, I just want to live happily ever after
Every now and then...

Doobie Brothers...with some creative editing.

Well, I built me a raft and she’s ready for floatin’
Ol’ Allegheny, she’s callin’ my name
Catfish are jumpin’
That paddle wheel thumpin’
Black water keeps rollin’ on past just the same

Old black water, keep on rollin’
Allegheny moon, won’t you keep on shinin’ on me
Old black water, keep on rollin’
Allegheny moon, won’t you keep on shinin’ on me
Old black water, keep on rollin’
Allegheny moon, won’t you keep on shinin’ on me
Yeah, keep on shinin’ your light
Gonna make everything, pretty mama
Gonna make everything all right
And I ain’t got no worries
’cause I ain’t in no hurry at all

Well, if it rains, I don’t care
Don’t make no difference to me
Just take that street car thats goin’ up town
Yeah, I’d like to hear some funky Jimmy Buffett
And dance a honky tonk
And I’ll be buyin’ ev’rybody drinks all ’roun’

So did anybody think about bringing fireworks before the show on sunday? 8)

I have a few bottle rockets and firecrackers left over from the last 4th of July. I'll have to go light up a few to test to see if they still work

We are willing to be Cooler Transportation (thanks BigPHan) to PNC. Has anybody heard from fanvan? Maybe we can hook up with him and work out a meeting.

I don't mind calling him tomorrow. I'm just afraid by the time you collect the coolers at Staion Square on Sunday and head to PNC, you won't be able to park anywhere near him. If you took a taxi you could go to the nearest corner and not have to worry about finding a parking place.

I'll be at Station Square anyway, so I can move the car close to the party for cooler storage. We can put the top down and stack the coolers up if we have to - as long as it doesn't rain.

We need to set a deadline for everyone to have their cooler at Station Square - I'm thinking 2PM at the latest.

How does that sound?

Yeah - talk about a change of heart :pirate:

This is probably going to be either the best or worst idea I've ever had surrounding a Buffett concert - that has yet to be determined!

The tubing bag is packed with;
6 single tubes
2 double tubes
1 floating inflatable cooler
1 ski rope to attach to the boat
1 air pump to inflate everything

I'll buy some gallon-size ziplock bags and some rope to tie the tubes together on Friday...

I'm looking at this picture again. Besides finding a boat to pull us, the entry and exit points are my biggest concern. If there isn't any access at Station Square, we could walk across the bridge with the tubes and get a boat to pick us up at the point.
