Alpine Valley Concert Off?

I just heard some very scary news! It seems to be from a very reliable source. The news is that Jimmy will only be doing the Wrigley Field shows, and not Alpine Valley or Tinley Park. The Alpine Valley Lodge has the rumor that he will be there on July 30th, but now have said that is not going to happen. I hope this isn't true, so if anyone has any inside info let us know.

That would be like canceling Christmas. I don't buy it. According to Brian, Alpine and Jimmy are stilling trying to figure out what day.
Nothing to worry about but by some wierd chance he does not play, put me on suicide watch.

Chill. Brian, the head of security at Alpine Valley has been keeping us updated, and the last we've heard from him is that they are holding 4 dates for JB right now. Unless Brian posts here in the next couple of days that the show is off, then I think we can be reassured the show is still on.... we just don't know what date.

Well...you have certainly eased my mind a bit. I guess I should relax, I have heard Jimmy mention the Alpine Valley crowds in interviews, so it is a bit hard to believe he would ditch that one. When I called the lodge, they let slip that the lodge was sold out the night of the Buffett concert which is the 30th, but then said that it was the rumored date. We'll wait and see.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but that's the weekend that DMB will be playing Alpine.

I thought that was the 23rd.

There is no guarantee that JB's management will make arrangements for shows in ANY venue, even one's that are supposedly his favorites. It's a business driven by revenue not loyalty.

As long as he doesn't skip Great Woods again this year, I'm fine with whatever he decides to do. I'm ducking & running now

Here you go. It turned out to be the 23rd / 24th instead of 22nd / 23rd;

Nonsense, Alpine seats 35,000, it sells out in five minutes, there's no way they're gonna not get a date.
If there is no Alpine, then I will flat out boycott the Wrigley shows and I live six blocks away. JB loves Alpine, says it's the best tailgating and the best place to play every year. I find it impossible to believe he won't get a date.

JB has said the same things in the past about Great Woods and Irvine, and both of those venues are history.... It's a business; nothing's sacred.

ummmm.. he says that about a lot of places he plays...
it's part of the audience-participation patter.
even if it is true in this case

That would s*** if he didn't play there. I think Dino is pretty on top of it and he hasn't said it is off yet. If he doesn't play there it will s***, I'll have to see him somewhere else that won't be as good as Alpine Valley. I can't imagine Wrigley being too bad. Lots to do around there but I like the fact that Alpine is in the middle of nowhere. Hopefully that Brian guy is right, I didn't know he was the head of security. That is a horse of a different color.

Funny, doesn't he always say that where ever he goes?!?!?!
And I'm telling you right now you boycott Wrigley you will regret it.. I went to both Fenway shows last year and it was an awesome experience.. I know people that boycotted Fenway and then changed their minds at the last minute and couldn't get tickets.. They still regret it!!! Don't be foolish, Like I've said in other post just be thankful he's playing somewhere close by to you b/c there are a lot of people on this board that won't even get to see him this year b/c he's not playing near them and can't afford to travel..

Dino doesn't get any of his information from people directly connected to JB's management. He finds out through hotels & other avenues, so he might find out sooner than others, but he's not the source of any kind of official word.

No, he doesn't say that about everywhere, he's never said it about Tinley. Trust me, nothing beats Alpine and Buffett says it every year.
