Margaritaville brand footwear?! (no kidding...)

Post by Jim in Raleigh »

I have not been able to find a link to this merchandise anywhere....

But in a color Belks circular I got from the (Friday, I think) Fayetteville (NC) paper there is a page in there says "New! at Belk" "Introducing new men's footwear that invokes the free spirit of fun and adventure found in Key West". :-?

There are 7 different flip flop/sandal looking shoes, and 2 boat shoe looking things. Names of the various styles are Mooring, Hurricane, Calypso, Breezy, Festival, Windy and Full Moon Chill.

Also with a photo of the soles of the shoes is the statement "These funky soles add fun to your footwear". The different soles are a palm tree, golf design and pineapple.

No where is Jimmy Buffett mentioned. I heard nothing about this at the Columbia SC show. There is a logo at the top for Margaritaville with palm trees and an island, and says "Soles Of the Tropics".

I'm a athletic shoe guy, but these are nice looking for the beach.

I have not been by the store to see if they actually are in stock. I may actually buy a pair if they have them.

Is this old news? Am I just behind the information curve or on the cutting edge? :D

If it is new, would you buy a pair? Would you because Jimmy's name is on it?

Here is an article. I know someone posted something about these before the concert. Maybe it was Navy Flyer or Albatross Flyer...seems like one of the Flyers!

Maybe the flip flops will look like this. I noticed that Jimmy has been losing his flip flops before the encore during the concerts. It sounded like he was throwing them out to someone in the audience and saying...now I don't want to see those up on ebay.

If Jimmy ever endorses his own flip flops, that would be the absolute worst thing he has whored out................. If this is someone else trying to take advantage of the Buffett fan base, thats not as bad as Jimmy whoring out his wares.............. I just hope it has nothing to do with Jimmy.................. :-?

It looks like that is what the company is all about ...endorsements from entertainment industy. Guess if it was good enough for Shaq, it might be good enough marketing for Jimmy.

conched heart warming article. Thanks for passing this on.

Now I would pay $128, $88, or $48 to see Keith Houston.

And IsleReef gotta agree with you on the footware. I wonder how many PH would accept my used flip flops? Gag! As far as I'm concerned Jimmy can keep his used footware.

Looks like real thing...

The Charlotte.com story does mention these as "endorsed by Jimmy Buffett".

I will not copy and paste the story here due to copyright laws, etc, but if you want to read it (or any other story that requires a user name and password, go to BugMeNot.com-GREAT site for that). :D You can use user name "wasteland@mailinator.com" and password "pirates1" :pirate: for the Charlotte.com site.

The prices of these shoes range from $25 to $59.99. I had no doubt these were OK (with JB and his lawyers), Belk is a large retailer in the South and would not be selling bootleg gear.

This is the company that will market them: http://www.aciint.com/, according to the Charlotte story.

I guess I don't see anything wrong with this. No one will be forcing any of us to buy a thing. If they're comfortable, wear well, and are cost effective, I'll buy them. Otherwise, I'll vote "no" with my wallet. If they stink, don't buy them. Simple.

Since we don't have Belk's around here, wonder if another local store will carry them?

Just in case some of you are still looking or still interested in the M'ville footwear, there's quite a bit of it on ebay right now. Happy bidding! :)
