I'm not a big fan of either Bush, but can you tell me why is it the Governor's duty to make sure kids are signed up for health insurance? What happenned to parental responsibility?

Bob Graham former gov and Senator tells his fav song

Post by palacegypsie »

From The Washington Post: The political press completely overlooked a potentially revealing element of character in Tuesday night's Democratic debate at Morgan State University in Baltimore,"reports The Post's Ann Gerhart. "Ladies and gentlemen," began questioner Farai Chideya, "I don't want to mess up the format of this debate. This is for the Generation X crowd: What's your favorite song?"

Bob Graham: "Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes," by Jimmy Buffett. If we weren't all crazy / we would all go insane.

Buffett's view

Post by palacegypsie »

"The Republicans do not have an environmental policy because if they did, they'd talk about it," said Buffett, a frequent contributor to Democratic candidates who uses his celebrity to advocate for the protection of endangered manatees and against offshore oil drilling.

http://www.sptimes.com/News/110200/Hill ... t__p.shtml

"Don't want no air that smells like Texas, no oil rigs in the Apalachee Bay ..." Buffett sang at 8 a.m., as a young fan held up a bottle of tequila in tribute.

"I see these turkey buzzards circling in downtown Tampa," Buffett said. "I think they're looking for Bill McCollum meat."

Thanks for saying so. I guess it was just the wording. "The Navy ship that was bombed" or something like that probably wouldn't have bothered me. But I'm the first to admit that this is a very touchy subject for me. I went to school with the ship's Commanding Officer. Those were my Navy shipmates who were killed. Close friends of mine had to work the crime scene, and it was a life-altering experience for them. So while wanting to give you the benefit of the doubt, I also want people to remember the ship's name, and remember the sacrifices of those aboard.
My buddy who at the time was in the Navy called me after the Cole got bombed. He was finishing up his 6 month at sea tour of duty and the Cole was his relief ship, he was on the USS Radford I believe and they had some sort of problem and was docked an extra day. He said if his ship would have left on time he would have been in the middle of what happened. Still sends chills everytime I hear him talk about it.

[quote="Monkey"]Cause he pretty much can't be bothered with anything other then what benefits big business.

Oh, but wait when a hurricane comes he'll fly in with his brother to hand out ice... that conincidentally they were running out of before AND after the photo op. Glad our suffering could help aid a re-election.
[quote]That's politics though. It works like this:

After the hurricane, if Bush didn't come down and tour the damage, the liberals are going to say he's a heartless bastard. If he did come down and tour the damange, he's a greedy publicity whore who just wants to get reelected.

Point is, if you don't like the guy, you're going to find fault in everything he does. Unless of course you're able to be a little objective about politics.

I don't think we'll ever have to worry about something like this becoming anything that even resembles reality.
JB's much too smart to get caught up in running for political office. It's just too much like WORK

As he said in the 60 minutes piece, he doesn't feel the need to be political, especially at his concerts
because PHs don't go to the shows to hear that stuff...they go to get away from all that

Amen Jimmy! He knows PHs come from all walks of life and all political philosophies.
It's refreshing to see an entertainer who understands his fan base and knows better than to express an opinion
that immediately alienates 49% OR 51% of his audience. 8)

And of course for reasons that are purely selfish on my part, I too would not want him to quit his day/night job!
you can't lay on the beach and drink rum all day if you don't start in the morning 8)

Are you really as big of moron as you sound like? I don't think that political preference has anything to do with being a parrothead.
