I have seen a few requests about Guy Clark's music. If you would like to listen to some great singer/songwriter STUFF, tune in for this program.

Awesome - THANKS! :D
It was a pleasure and a hell of an evening
Truly was our night to win
But the authorities insist on my leaving
Take care my American friend

I just heard most of a very excellent interview with Guy on XMPR's Bob Edward's Show. He talked about writing "L.A. Freeway" and how the phrase "If I can just get off of this L.A. Freeway without getting killed or caught" just sorta came to him after, well, getting off of the L.A. Freeway. Thanks to a crumpled up Burger King bag from the floorboard of the back of his truck and his wife's brow pencil, he scribbled down the key line that would later become his signature song (at least before "Homegrown Tomatoes"). I didn't hear all of the interview but he said the favorite cover of one of his songs is Slim Pickens doing a poetic reading of "Desperados Waitin' On A Train".
