Anyone ever stay there. We have a choice between staying there on Duval Street or staying where we usually stay that is a few blocks off Duval, the difference in price is only like $10 so I figurd what the hell, but I don't wanna go there if its not that great a place.

Never stayed there, and don't know what you're paying, but the Key Lodge Motel at Duval and Truman is terrific. Rates are $135-$200 depending on the time of year. Small place, great people, a little farther south on Duval than Southern Cross, set back from Duval so no traffic noise, and a nice heated pool. Rooms are all ground floor. Older, but clean, comfortable and relatively affordable, by KW standards.
SC looks nice on it's website, though!

Hi Jen...LTNS....I think of you every time I watch Magnum

...anyway. The SC is 145 a night so thats why I asked. I usually stay at the El Rancho on Truman, I believe its right by the Key Lodge. El Rancho is like 125 or so, but I figured for 10 or 20 extra bucks would it be worth it to stay ON Duval? I also saw the website, but I have learned never to believe them

Thanks!!!

I like the Abaco Inn. Very cozy, clean, and not far from the action. Great prices to.

OUCH...$185 a night..I think I am going to stick with El Rancho, they have a pool there and SC doesn't..the walking the extra few blocks won't kill me! But please if you have anymore suggestions let me know I am always open to new ideas.

Booze and I stayed at the Southern Cross for MOTM....it was very cheap, like $60 a night for a small room....very nice people, but definitely not a luxury hotel...the best thing though for a place to crash in the middle of the action..
Our room had a very tiny bathroom and shower and the sink was in the bedroom part.... it had air, but no phone and no TV...
We liked it though, we would stay there again for a cheap, middle of the action type thing.
If you are paying more, maybe you are getting a bigger room...I know they have suites and stuff, but never saw those to comment...
Have fun![/list]

I heard that the rooms are tiny and no phone and things like that...which would normally be fine, but there are 3 adults staying there so I think we will have to forego SC this time..I do want to stay there at some point though as the Southern Cross (the song and the constellation) is a favorite of mine...hell, I do have a damn tattoo of it on my leg
