New Vinyl Kings CD

Post by phjim »

From Josh Leo: Just wanted to let you all know that the Vinyl Kings (assorted ex-reefers who recorded and/ or toured in the old days) have a new CD out for your dancing and dining pleasure. It is called "Time Machine" and can be made your very own at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/vinylkings2. It is a little different from the first "Beatle sounding" CD" A Little Trip" that we released in 2002. This one has Beatle overtones as well as Beach Boy sounding songs. And to make sure you're totally confused, a Marvin Gaye sounding tune as well. All are original songs written by your's truly and the other band member's. Although we are all grateful for what the big cheese has done for us, there are no Buffett sounding songs on this CD. Let's face it everybody else is jumping on that band wagon-no need for more. Anyway- would love to see and hear what you think of the music.

The Vinyl Kings are awesome. Their last album was an excellent trip down memory lane without sounding dated or cliche. Time Machine is also pretty good. I really suggest everyone check them out for a nice change of pace.

These guys are GREAT! I bought "A Little Trip" back when it first came out, and it remains one of my favorite CDs. :D
I just ordered "Time Machine".

btw ... I have to give a big compliment to CD Baby for having 2 minutes of each song as samples! 8) It was so nice to really get a feel for the tunes, not like those 30 second snipets I am used to on other sites.

I haven't ordered this one yet but "A Little Trip" was terrific. For any old goats of my generation, they really nailed the sound of that era.

Been a little slow to respond here...I got the new one a couple of weeks ago and I'd give it about 8.5 on a scale of 1-10(best). I give "a Little Trip" a 10; it's simply a must-have.

Top to bottom, I 'd say the 1st cd is better, BUT the new one has some songs ("Mr Greedyman" and "Your Turn to Shine") on it that are better than any of the songs on the first (IMHO).

I'd recommend adding "Time Machine" to your audio library. These guys are great.

btw...Ordering from CDbaby is the best! You get those great e-mails from the company's president and generally a follow up from the talent (at least in Josh's case).
