Jury Duty....ever served?

Post by buffettbride »

I loved Quint's story about jury duty...so BB thought, "hey! another poll opportunity!"

Ever served in jury duty?

Me? Nahhhh. Never even been called. I do think it would be interesting though.

Yep.. was even seated in the courtroom for the final round. :) Then found out the case was about spousal abuse. I said I couldn't be impartial. Thanks, and have a nice day. :D

I've served on 3 juries.

The first was halarious! It was about a stolen pumpkin! Everyone described the pumpkin, size etc. GUILTY

Second was stolen construction materials. MISTRIAL witness didn't show

Last one was assault. GUILTY

I was called for Fed. jury duty just before I was leaving for college, but didn't get to serve since I was leaving. I was selected for the Grand Jury a couple of years ago. I loved it. We only had to serve one session of 2-3 days, but I served on 3 sessions.

Does Grand Jury dutie count?

If so yep.

Didn't much like it. Never heard both sides of the story. Never even saw the accused. And it lasted for 3 months.

Called but dismissed because 10 years ago being a lawyer still meant automatic dismissal in NY. Haven't been called since then.

Never. Betwen my job and the relatives I have in law enforcement, I'm on the inelligible list.

Wouldn't mind giving it a try once, though.

been called four times and served twice. the first was a civil suit-case lasted a week and we found against the plaintiff. the second was an aggravated kidnapping and first degree murder case and we found him guilty on both counts.

felt the experience both times was a good one; judges in both cases came and talked to the jury after we delivered the verdict; showed me that the system can work.

Sent the notice, but never had to go to the courthouse. They have a phone number you can call the night before to find out if you are needed. I wasn't.

Called - sat there while they interviewed a bunch of people, sent home and asked to call back the next day, didn't need me to come in

Called, but was excused after filling out the forms because of my job. I was the only one out of about 200 or so excused, everybody just watched me leave as I was thinking to myself Bye-Bye.

what a waste of tax money.

Who cares what a person chooses to do to their own body. Now if the person gets coked up and robs somebody, THEN you arrest them. Not just for doing coke itself.

Drugs should be treated the same as alcohol....punish the real crime, not the substance.

Then again, I'm big on this thing called personal freedom, responsibility and limited government. Silly me.

Me too! All my friends and family have served, a couple even in a Federal court case. I wonder what it is? Now you watch......they'll call me the first of November, during MOTM. :o We just got our plane tickets, are registered at MOTM and Casa Marina. Is having all that money and reservations tied up a good enough reason to be exempt?
