Shameless Pimping!! I need your help!!

As some of you know, my best friend Melissa has Crohn's Disease. I posted a thread a few weeks ago to send her mucho love and phin power. But, I'm asking you to 'kick it up a notch'. She is currently raising $ to help find a cure for the disease and help children with Crohn's and Colitis--and I promised I'd pimp-up my BN and PH friends to help support her.

If you would like more information about Crohn's Disease, here is a great link: http://my.webmd.com/hw/inflammatory_bowel/uf6004.asp. I'll spare you all the in-detail information about the disease, because it's not pretty. It's not necessarily (but can be) life threatening...but it is most certainly a life-long illness that is not fun nor easy to manage. If any of you are familiar with the movie "Poltergeist" the little girl who starred in that movie also suffered and died as a result of her battle with Crohn's. (Bet you didn't know I knew that, did ya 'Lis!!)

These are pledges to support her as she participates in the CCFA walk. Melissa is definitely not a gal that just deals with what life hands her. She's definitely out doing something to help the cause.

If that wasn't enough, here's a link to her donation Web site (with a picture). I'm tellin' ya guys...she's HOT!!!
https://www.kintera.org/faf/donorReg/do ... d=73965842

From this link you will have the opportunity to learn more about Melissa and her struggle with Crohn's disease. She's very young, very beautiful, and has had to deal with more crap (literally) than any person should ever have.

But wait! There's more!!!! I'm not 'Lis' only BN connection. She is also the sweet cousin of our very own PHAW Webmistress--the mistress of all things pimping (I had to learn it from somewhere).

So, if you can, please donate. If not, please send continued well wishes her way! Thank you everyone, so much, I really, really appreciate it!

I suffered from Crohn's for several years and I wouldn't wish it on Hitler. Pain like you simply cannot imagine. Drinking-warm-Nightrain-straight-from-the-bottle-to-try-to-kill-the-pain type pain (it didn't work). Praying-for-someone-to-kick-you-in-the-nuts-just-for-something-different type pain. Praying-for-nuclear-war-to-just-end-it-now type pain.

I had surgery seven years ago and have been sympton-free since then (knock on wood). But currently there is no "cure" for it and many people aren't so lucky. (My surgeon said that, in his experience, it's about 50/50 if it ever comes back after surgery).

So I can at least promise any of you thinking about contributing that this money is going to a good cause.

Wow! Glad to hear the surgery went so well for you and thanks for sharing your story and helping bump the thread back up to the top.

I had mentioned this a few weeks ago, but Melissa has been through several surgeries (one of them so big and icky I don't even feel at liberty to share), Remicaid treatments, etc. etc. Sometimes she responds well...sometimes not...but she hasn't been in remission for over 2 years. :(

I suffered from Ulcerative Colitis for 5 long years resulting in the removal of my entire Colon (large intestine), had the wonderful side bag for two long months until surgery #2 where they reconnected my inner plumbing. surgery #3 and #4 were emergencies due to two seperate plumbing leaks.
Surgery # 5 was another emergency as a result from the original condition, had the gall bladder and part of my liver removed. Coming from someone with experience, let's help find a cure for this thing, it is not only painful but it really really sucks big time. Help where you can.
