Fenway Park's Next Concert The Rolling Stones
Rolling Stones may play Fenway
By the Associated Press | March 14, 2005
BOSTON (AP) -- First Bruce Springsteen, then Jimmy Buffett, and now a published report says The Rolling Stones are the latest rock and roll act to set their sights on Fenway Park.
Mayor Tom Menino's office confirmed that a hearing is scheduled for March 30 on a proposal by the Red Sox to hold a third summer concert series at the historic ballfield. But a spokesman for the mayor said he could not confirm a report in the "Boston Courant" that Mick Jagger and the boys are the ones in question.
The Boston Herald reported the tentative dates for the two shows would be August 21 and 23.
Bruce Springsteen was the first to hold a pair of rock concerts at Fenway in 2003. Jimmy Buffett and his "parrotheads" took over the ballpark for two nights last September.

There's also a rumor that the Dave Matthews Band may be playing Fenway Park. They have the dates of July 9 & 10 listed as Boston, MA TBA. Every other date lists a venue except those two dates. The Sox happen to be out of town during that weekend. Usually they play GW every summer and list it on their schedule as Mansfield, MA, so this looks like it could happen.

I'd be very surprised if they allowed more than 1 artist per season at Fenway.BostonFins wrote:There's also a rumor that the Dave Matthews Band may be playing Fenway Park. Yeah, Fenway isn't going to let more than one artist per year play there. I believe that's the agreement they have with the city. One local newspaper mentioned that DMB and Bon Jovi have both inquired about playing there, as well as the Stones.

I bet Dave Natthews is holding off name a place till the Stones get the approval. The Boston papers say March 30th is the hearing The neighborhood was pulling a nutty last year worrying about Jimmy, I bet they have a cow with the Stines coming in. Noise is always a big factor with the shows at Fenway. Personally I am hoping for DMB to show up at "Great Woods" like last year.
i'd rather die while i'm living than live when i'm dead
I hope Dave skips Fenway. I hated my Buffett experience at Fenway. I hated it because there was no tailgating, because I was surrounded by rude fans, who were just ignorant jerks(non-parrotheads who wanted to go for the hype of seeing a Buffett show at Fenway), and because the Fenway ushers were completely unprepared for this sort of thing. The crowds never seemed to move in the concourse (mainly because the concourses were built to support a traffic flow of 25 thousand people, not 40,000), so getting a beer or going to the bathroom meant that your concert was essentially over. I'm glad I can say I saw Jimmy Buffett at Fenway Park, but on the other hand, never again...

It is Official Rolling Stones will play Fenway Park this Summer. August 21 and 23.

BOSTON -- According to a Red Sox team official, The Rolling Stones will be playing at Fenway Park this summer.
The concert by the venerable rock band has been strongly rumored for several weeks. They will hit the stage at Fenway on Sunday, August 21st and Tuesday, August 23rd.
The Fenway shows will be the launching point for the Stones' latest world tour. The band also chose Boston as the first stop on its "Forty Licks" tour in 2002, opening at the FleetCenter on that occassion.
This will mark the third straight year that Fenway Park has hosted a major concert. Bruce Springsteen performed in 2003 and last year, Jimmy Buffet brought his "parrotheads" to the 90-year-old stadium.
Tickets for The Rolling Stones will go on sale Saturday through Ticketmaster.

Re: Stones
I sat in the nosebleeds for Bruce (MSG, 2000) and in the 12th row for the Stones (The Vet, 2002), and no one rocks any place better than Bruce. He's pretty far down on the list of my favorite artists, but nothing matches his live show with the E Street Band.DisisDave wrote:Say what you will but the stones will rock that place harder than either Bruce or Jimmy, they may be old but Jagger has only lost 1/2 a step.

Look a little closer...UpstateNYPH wrote:Over $400 a ticket face value for most of their shows. I dont care how much I like an artist, I would NEVER pay that. Even for Jimmy.
$400 is for the exclusive Gold Club seats right up front incl/backstage access. Nothing unusual about this.
Jimmy gets $275 usually for his exclusive seats.
The seats I'll be buying for Stones' Petco Park show in SD will be $99.
I've paid this (and more) for face value seats to Buffett, U2, Eagles etc....
$#@&...only Vegas again?? Padres ...gotta start believin'!Bring on '14 Spring Training!
