Les's mom is turning 60 and I am doing an album for her. Want to make it special so if you have any good ideas... let me know. So far I have..
-old pics
-it will have pictures of her surprise birthday dinner added later
-an "on this day" page I can get from the scrapbooking store with everything that happened on the day she was born etc...
-the invitation to the surprise dinner
-any cards that she received (a page with a card holder)
-notes and birthday drawings/homemade cards from her grandchildren
if you have any other good ideas - I have to have this done by the 26th (yikes!!!)

Thanks!!
I have an album already -so I was goingto scrap most of it and then have special pages (like the one for cards) I am not sure about the family tree...some of the branches go different ways if you know what I mean. But I would like to somehow get her past in there somewhere.
THey are great to do - I did a friend's wedding but it took forever!! I may stop in at the scrapbooking den Friday since I have the day off. It is the best!!

My Aunt's kids did something similar for her 80th.
They also had family members write little notes about a special memory or occasion that they had shared with Auntie. It was nice for me, as the party was out of state and I didn't get to go.....I was happy to share a few thoughts to let her know I was with her in spirit!
They were very ambitious and had sent us all matching little cards to write on with return envelopes.....I'm sure it was for a scrapbook page so it all matched.
What an incredible gift......I hope when I'm 60 my daughter will be so kind.....

My mom made one for me for my 21st birthday with pictures and a really nice letter. That really ment a lot to me since she was diagnosed with cancer about two weeks after my birthday. I will go and look through it when I need a reminder of her and a reminder of what it was like growing up in a large caring family.

May not have enough time, but its nice to ask relatives for any photos that they may have with her in them from way back. But they could always scan and email them them to you?
Or contact the HS she graduated from or (
www.classmates.com ?) for any pictures or notes from old classmates.
