I agree, go see Jim Morris and buy his music.
I am a completist too, so I have it all. Not a bad one in the bunch. If you are going to get in all anyway, you may as well start at the beginning.
But some of my favorites are Laid Back and Key Wasted, Boconuts, Some Nights You Never Go Home and The Floating Opera.
His live CDs, are very good too. Trolling for Mermaids is the more recent one.
If you can see him live, go. It is a fantastic show, the crowd is great and Jim is more than happy to shake your hand or sign a CD. Bring your sangria wine!

Good point, I didn't know if any were still available - and no "Pan Man Dave" on Octoberfish. But a live version of Patty'91 is worth every penny!sonofabeach wrote:Get all of them!
Actually The "Hurricane Charley Benefit" cd recorded live at Octoberfish is the newest live one and is really good.PA PAR8 HED wrote: His live CDs, are very good too. Trolling for Mermaids is the more recent one.
The release party for his next CD is a week from tomorrow!
I think Jim's cds are all good. He has a way of doing music that sounds different. He covers some of Jerry Jeff Walker or actually songs Jerry Jeff covers, like Don't It Make You Want to Dance.
I would start with his last two cds...Land of NO Mondays and the Live One...Trolling for Mermaids...THIS IS MY FAVORITE!
Then I'd go back and buy the first one, Laid Back and Key Wasted and continue until you have them all. Every CD has a few jewels.
I think Seafood Platter is like a compilation of his SYKBH!
OOPS, I just read and didn't know there was a new live one out.

I just went to the web site and here's a new one for release soon.

Is there any place to get the Hurricane Charley one? Gotta have it.
Nevermind...found it all at his web site.

First time I ever saw either one of them was when they played together at a little waterfront place in Freeport (Long Island, not the Bahamas) called Bracco's. It was a Thursday night (the same night as JB's first GW show that year) and they played for about 3 hours. Jim Morris would do one song, then Sunny Jim would do one. I bought the Gulf Coast Highway Tour CD that night, good stuff.Desdamona wrote:***pimping alert!***
You can come hear Jim do one of his fabulous duo
shows with James "Sunny Jim" White at our Beach
Bash in July. For a taste of what that's like, try their
Gulf Coast Highway Tour CD. They are a blast!

Stars Fell on Alabama went on as planned except the usual FloraBamaCrazy Navy Flyer wrote:He was supposed to play in Gulf Shores Alabama last weekend, Lulu's on Saturday. Don't know if that is still on or not, alot of IVAN damage still exists and I don't know if the Live Bait was open for the Friday show.
event was held at Live Bait (which re-opened just for our visit!)
Jim & Jim "did their thing" for us at Lulu's, and the governer even
named that day "ParrotHead Day" in all of Alabama! You shoula
been there...
And yes, the storm damage was quite a sight to see.
