However, as a parent, I try to think of what I would do if it were one of my boys in this condition. The answer is I truly do not know. I hope I never have to make that decision. The same goes if it were my wife in that bed. Luckily we have used this case to document our wishes. I personally hope that the parents realize that they are fighting this battle for themselves not Terri. And I hope that the husband does the same.
well said, PHB. . .

thru all of this sadness, we have learned how important it is to document our wishes. . .

and to every day tell those we love how much we cherish each day with them. . . . .

when your children get old enough you can use this case to discuss it with them. That's what Steven and I did Saturday. I know exactly what he would want me to do.

Let's take a walk together near the ocean shore
Hand in hand you and I
Let's cherish every moment we have been given
The time is passing by
I often pray before I lay down by your side
If you receive your calling before I awake
Could I make it through the night
1. Cherish the love we have
We should cherish the life we live
Cherish the love
Cherish the life
Cherish the love
Cherish the love we have
For as long as we both shall live
Cherish the love
Cherish the life
Cherish the love
The world is always changing
Nothing stays the same
But love will stand the test of time
The next life that we live in
Remains to be seen
Will you be by my side
I often pray before I lay down by your side
If you receive your calling before I awake
Could I make it through the night
Cherish the love we have
We should cherish the life we live
Cherish the love
Cherish the life
Cherish the love
Cherish the love we have
For as long as we both shall live
Cherish the love
Cherish the life
Cherish the love
Cherish the love
Cherish the life
Cherish the love we have
We should cherish the life we live
Cherish the loveCherish the life
Cherish the love
Cherish the love we have
For as long as we both shall live
Cherish the love
Cherish the life
Cherish the love
Cherish the love we have
We should cherish the life we live
Cherish the love
Cherish the life
Cherish the love
Cherish the love we have
For as long as we both shall live
Cherish the love
Cherish the life
Cherish the love

You have too much hostility Connie. Smile; breath in the fresh air. Laugh at the odd things in life. Call an old friend. Listen to Disco Duck.

It's actually been very challenging at home, discussing this with Victoria. She goes to a Catholic school and obviously there's no question where the Church stands on this issue. She does know that mommy and daddy have different opinions (than her school) in this particular case but we didn't really discuss it much further than that. She didn't really ask.

IMHO she's probably too young to discuss this with. In fact if I had tried to have that discussion with Steven a couple of years ago it would have probably stressed him too much.
