The hotel situation around there is horrible. Alpine is such an awesome venue but one of the things that makes it so great (it is in the middle of nowhere) makes finding a place to stay hard. There is some campgrounds around, there is also some hotels which I bet are almost all full. I know some of the area hotels are in the practice of price gouging on concert nights. The bus tour is a good way to go. You stay in Janesville I think. The alpine valley website has some links as well for area lodging

Literally, right across the street. That's where I'm staying.

I waited last year and all I could get was the Motel 6 which is next to the Hampton Inn.

Okay, so if I sign up for the Volcano Express and go ahead and get a ticket through them, are we guaranteed tickets? I would just hate to bank on that and get screwed out of a ticket for the show. And what are the 'ammenities' listed for the volcano express?

Yes; I don't know the logistics, but some how they come up with enough tickets. I didn't decide I was going last year until a couple weeks before the show and they still had a ticket or two left.

 for the last two years we stay nearby Alpine Valley in a town called elkhorn, we do come from Florida in our camper and the guy only charge us like $30.00 for two nights. And then we take a bus for about five minutes ride. on Friday night he throws a big party with live band and also on Saturday morning before the tailgate party starts. some people come with campers and some with tents. it is like mini woodstock.
We are going to call for reservation for this year. I will give you guys some information when we findout what's going on in Wisconsin. :wench:
