Margaritaville Coming to Cozumel?? Thoughts on Cancun Margar

Just got back from a cruise that stopped in Cozumel. We ate at our favorite restaurant/bar and the mgr. told us that Jimmy was opening
a Margaritaville in Cozumel (close to Carlos and Charlies) in the next two or three months.
Anyone else heard that same thing??
Our ship also made a stop in Cancun and my wife and I did the obligatory trip to that Margaritaville...didn't see a single Buffett t-shirt or shirt on anyone except the wait persons and the place was jam packed.. My personal opinion is that the more he expands, the more of a Hard Rock, Planet Hollywood type crowd he attracts.
This one is located at the end of an enclosed mall with Margaritaville
at one end and Planet Hollywood on the other.

I think Jimmy has chosen his cafe locations carefully. They are all in areas with heavy tourist activity. The ones in Jamaica get cruise ship passengers from all over the world. I am sure a lot of them have no idea who Jimmy Buffett is, but the go to Margaritaville because its a hot spot. The same can be said for Orlando, Vegas, ect. Cozumel would work just as Jamaica, cruise ships rolling in all the time. I think Jimmy should look into the eastern Caribbean. St. Maarten or St. Thomas does not have a Margaritaville or a Carlos N Charlies type place to enjoy.

I love Cozumel, been there a few times. A Margaritaville there would be awesome, and it would do a ton of business because there is a lot of tourism there. I also agree a Margaritaville in the eastern caribbean would be great too. St. Thomas, or any island for that matter would be perfect.

I too agree that it would be cool, although after reading the men's jornal interview with JB, I don't think he's happy what the cruise indusrty has done to these eastern islands. I think creating a margaritaville there would confilct these thoughts...I'd had to see margaritaville become the next 'diamonds international' of the caribbean, you can see them on every corner on every island's main street...

It would be swell if it was there by June. That's when I'm gonna be there.

I was in Cancun last month for a week. The Margaritaville there is in a plaza with an Outback and Pat O'Briens. Pat O'Briens has a huge out door deck on the water. Between the three you could spend a night in that area and have a great time.

We took a day trip to Cozumel and a Margaritaville would fit in there fine. Cozumel is also the home to the smallest Hard Rock Cafe' in the world.

As I understand it, Jimmy doesn't actually own any of them. Key West, New Orleans, and Charleston are all owned by the same person, a long-time friend of Buffett's who he originally licensed the name to. As the potential for a franchise became more and more obvious, he sold the rights to a few others, including a group of investors that had existing clubs in Jamaica (thus the noticable differences between the Jamaica M'ville's and the others). As I recall, after Vegas and Myrtle Beach opened Buffett deicded it was time to stop the growth of the M'ville chain because it was losing it's personality. It would surprise me if there was another M'ville about to open, unless it was already in the planning stages when Myrtle Beach opened.
On a side note, it was this expansion of the M'ville "empire" (along with a little research from the folks at Outback) that convinced Jimmy that a nationwide chain restaurant that used his name was viable. Thus was born Cheeseburger in Paradise, which will continue to expand even as Margaritaville's growth stops (or at least dramatically slows).

:D

now I think you should play " First Look " every day till you leave on your trip . .cuz that's what it will feel like . .

I've only been PHeady for about 5 years. In that time I've been to 4 shows. 1st one we didn't tailgate as had lawn seats and hubby wanted to get a good place.

2nd show was when matt proposed and had keet with us.

3rd show was my wedding.

4th show was in vegas (street party, no tailgating)
