Has anyone heard if the will be another LTC single released or what it may be? There are a few great songs that could get some strong airplay left, I hope they don't quit releasing cuts from this album after Piece of Work failed to crack the top 50.

I have heard any news on a new single. As far as I know, RCA is still pushing "Piece of Work" as the current single.

I do agree, though, there are several great single choices on LTC. Frankly, I'm shocked they used Piece of Work as a single.

I think the one with George Straight would be nice for country radio.

It seems like RCA gave up on whatever small amount of publicity they were giving POW. I think the label is done with this album. :-? I agree though, I would love to hear the single with George STRAIT on the radio though.

I think Coast Of Carolina would have made for a great single. And I'm surprised POW didn't garner much attention...I like the song. Funny thing is, I thought Licence To Chill with Kenny Chesney was going to be the first single, but they certainly changed that.

I agree, I think Coast of Carolina is my favorite song on the album. Would love to see it as a single...

I agree that Coast of Carolina would have been the best choice for a single. Why they never released it, we may never know. POW didn't get any recognition because RCA did almost nothing to promote it. Singles are released by the thousands every year. It's sad to say, but for the most part, it's not the quality of the song that gets it noticed, it's the money the record label is willing to spend on it to get it noticed.

"If" they release another it should be "Sea of Heartbreak".
Especially considering that it's now spring and it has that tropical feel.
Plus George Strait usually gets heavy rotation.
I personally feel that Coast of Carolina wouldn't do very well on radio

Sea of Heartbreak would be prime for good rotation. Strait hasn't had a single out in a few months, and a new one isn't on the horizon for a while....

I think Boats to Build makes the most sense. It brings back the duet partnership with which people are familiar and provides RCA with a nice bridge into Coast of Carolina or Sea of Heartbreak. RCA put a lot of time and money into getting this album on their label, I don't see them abandoning this effort too easily unless the next single fails to get higher than 40.

George Strait has a new single coming next month (You'll Be There) with a new album to follow shortly thereafter.

Alan Jackson just serviced a new single to radio, as well - Talkin' Song Repair Blues.

Therefore, it is highly unlikely another duet will follow.

Where did you hear that Strait's new single will be out next month and when is the album slated?

Jackson's single was released to radio stations Friday, so fans should start hearing it in the next week or so (unless you live in St. Louis and then you'll hear it in about three weeks.)

There's a post on my web site with the rest of the info.

As for being privvy to the info...can't say. Could be a hazard of the job.

Cartmil, thanks for the update. I'm excited to say the least!

So, is it more likely we will have a solo single released next (Coast of Carolina) or we will have to wait until the new singles coming from Strait and/or Jackson have completed their runs? Or am I the only one that thinks there will still be more efforts made by RCA?

I believe there will be at least one more single. My bet is it will coincide with the next leg of the tour - in other words, soon.

Personally, I feel "Piece of Work" was a horrible choice for a single and killed the momentum built by "Trip Around The Sun." And, its obvious by its chart performance that country radio and the general music audience (non-Parrotheads) agreed.

If I was RCA's A&R guy, I would've pushed a little harder for quicker video releases. The timing with the single to radio and the video to CMT/GAC is way off. How long was "Hey Good Lookin'" at radio before the video was even made? Same story with "Trip Around The Sun." In my opinion, the video needs to be released at the same time - if not first.

Secondly, I think A&R missed the boat with the genre on "Trip Around The Sun." While Martina is one of the hottest country acts around, she's also playing well at Hot AC and CHR (see "God's Will" and "In My Daughter's Eyes").

Finally, RCA/Mailboat HAS to get something on iTunes. Even if they can't clear the rights for the entire License To Chill album (which is the case), they need to clear the rights for the singles at least. We're now seeing iTunes (and not the other download stores) have an impact on how and what singles chart (see the tsunami benefit "Across The Universe" for proof).

This is just my opinion. But hell, I've only worked in the music industry on and off for 16 years. What do I know?
