Changes in Latitudes is playing right up the road from us on June 18th, perhaps we will take him there on his trip to Southern New England.

I would go see him play in a wet shoe box if I could get the tickets! Not only that but since Jimmy typically comes to the NY area every other year this works out fine. Boo hoo, the Mohegan Sun only holds 10K. I don't care if it accomodated three so long as it is my ass planted in one of those seats! I'm glad Jimmy is playing a little closer to NY this year, since there are no signs of him playing in NY. This is a show I am going to do my damndest to get tickets for, as well as any other surrounding shows.
Okay, so if NY is JBs largest "branch" (concentration of fans) -- as he said in the 60 Min uncut, then why is he there only every other year? (Today Show can't really count.) :-?

I was down at Mohegan last week and I have to tell you it's a really nice place and the rooms are fabulous but a hundred dollar room through the week goes for 350 and up and most of the rooms are booked months in advance. If you do get tickets the nearest town is Norwich and there is a Ramada Inn and a couple of other hotels there and I think they all run shuttles to the casino. Norwich is on I395 and maybe 15 minutes away. Groton is about 25 minutes on route 12 (I think) and there are 5 or 6 hotels there. With 2 casinos in the area and this being a weekend all the hotels will charge you a small fortune for a room. Groton is a Navy town so if you are in the Military or work for the government you might can get the daily Per Diem rate for a room.

The best part about Mohegan: there are 3 Krispy Kreme donut shops in the place that are open 24 hours.
350 a night is a little steep for the college budget, add onto 200 already taken out of my buffett budget for great woods, and the high ticket prices, could abe a tough one to swing.

Attention. For all those looking for a place to stay the night of the Mohegan Sun show I have an opinion. I once stayed at a place near Mohegan called the Best Western Cristata. It was around 100 a night for a weekend and they have 24 hour limo service to the casino. Its really a great deal. Book soon because I think this place fills up fast. I apologize if anyone already posted this, just wanted to help out

Maybe because of the "regular" venues that he plays Jones Beach is the smallest, it only holds 14,000. He could play Madison Square Garden, it probably holds close to 20,000 for concerts, but if you're in the 400 level you're so far away from the stage you might as well be in another city.

WHY?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Post by thekidsalami »

To each, his or her own, but I can't imagine why anybody would pay big bucks to go to this show.

If you're gonna travel for a show, go to Great Woods. Does anybody really think they're gonna let you tailgate in the Mohegan parking lots? Are you kidding, they want you inside losing money all day long.

And with ticket prices guaranteed to be $100 and up, you'd be much better served buying a couple of GW lawn seats off of ebay.

Just my opinion.
Tryin' to tell myself that my condition is improvin' and if I don't die by Thursday, I'll be roarin' Friday night.

Some of us who travel to see Buffett like to go to different venues. I've been to Great Woods and there's no reason to go again. I know a lot of people think it's the best thing since chocolate milk, but I didn't think it was that good. And if Mohegan Sun doesn't let people tailgate in the parking lots, so what? Tailgating is nice, but I go for the concert first. Tailgating is a bonus.

One other place I found to stay at near Mohegan Sun is the Microtel Inn. $94/night for Friday night and if you have AAA it's around $85. Only 1 mile from the casino and free shuttle back and forth. Here is the web site if anyone is interested http://www.microteluncasville.com/. Not a lot of frills but a bed with a roof over it.

Because it's only a 1.5 - 2 hr drive from my house as opposed to the 3+ I'm taking to Philly or would take to GW.
