Can a Parrothead be a conservative

because I am.
Had a bad day today because I get the feeling a teacher can't be a conservative either. And believe me, I'm a pretty liberal conservative. I'm not on the religious right agenda. And I don't care if people disagree with me, I love a good debate. Just hate folks who think they're superior because they have the better value system.

Yes, it's possible for a parrothead to be a conservative.
We're not "religious right," just right.

I know what you're talking about. All of my friends are conservatives (not very religious ones though). But as I get further and further into the teaching profession, I find myself surrounded by a lot of liberals.

It bugs me and does a disservice to our kids. They should be exposed to people of all beliefs. I find it hard to believe that this doesn't trickle it's way into the classroom. Teachers should be open minded. They should have their own oppinions and be able to state them without insulting somebody else.

Once again, I agree. My cooperating teacher is a wonderful teacher who knows more than I could ever hope to, but is very opinionated. And every now and again it will seep through when she's teaching or talking with the kids. My philosophies come out too, but I make it a point to let them out to the kids, because I try and get them to try new things, not get worked up about stuff, and keep an open mind.
I guess that doesn't make me a liberal or a conservative, just someone who can't commit.

O.C.G.:
I'm a HARD CORE parrothead for over 20 years, and a staunch conservative ever since the days of Ronald Reagan. It's nice to see others who feel the same. We're a rare breed indeed.
I do have some religious values, but nowhere near that of Jerry Falwell and HIS ilk.
Thanks for starting this post-it's made my day.

UAHparrothead - I am a Christian. I just don't force my views on people. However, my faith shapes my political views to some extent. Sometimes that includes leaning on the liberal side as I think we should have compassion for people.

There are times when I feel like coming out of the closet at work. I'm conservative, I'm pro-life in most circumstances, I like Bush and support the action in Iraq to a point, I hate big government and generally disagree with union stances.
But I'm also a parrothead and like to let my hair down and have a good time. I would never criticize you for having different opinions then I do, I don't blindly agree with Bush and have voted democrat at times. I would truly be ostracized at work. I see it happen all the time. It's not even good natured ribbing. I guess I'm a bit of a wimp and tend to like to see people all just get along.
