I've watched it several times since finding out Buffett was in the movie but still haven't been able to spot him.jaytrader wrote:JB was in Repo Man?!?!?!? I don't know how many times I watched that movie in the late 80's. One of the best movies ever, especially the soundtrack - very un-jimmy though.
Buffett in a movie I never heard of-how 'bout you?

I rented the Congo DVD and the chapter name with Jimmy as a 737 pilot is called "Jimmy's Flight!" None of the movie characters are called Jimmy so the chapter is named after our Jimmy!! I guess there's a producer or director who is a Parrothead.Sidew13 wrote:My wife thought I was crazy when I rented Congo, then fastfoward through half of it. I also rented/watched Hook and saw the "shoe stealing pirate" but I couldn't tell it was Jimmy with the big hat, full beard and all the make-up.

Michael Nesmith also directed Jimmy's video for La Vie Dansante.PA PAR8 HED wrote:Didn't Michael Nesmith tell Jimmy about the 12 Volt Man?jaytrader wrote:Man, the stuff you learn on the IMDB... That duck movie was produced by Michael Nesmith, of the Monkees.
With all these movie credits, we can play 6 Degrees of Jimmy Buffett
Ok - time for a "keet" question: what's the story behind the 12 Volt Man? I don't think I heard about that one.

The Duck Sauce Movie was a collection of music videos put together by Michael Nesmith. Kind of like a goofy-MTV with music and comedy skits, back when MTV played music.
Jimmy's only appearance to the best of my recollection in the Duck Sauce movie is the Nesmith directed La Vie Dansante video. It is the same video that appears in Buffett's Tales from Margaritavison video tape he put out a few years back, so if you have that, there is no reason to try to get a copy of Duck Sauce.
By the way, why hasn't Margaritavision been released on DVD yet? Get with it Jimmy!

Thanks for clarifying, I was thinking that was the Buffett connection but I wasn't sure. I also thought Nesmith had a special called Elephant Parts that's made up of videos long before they came into vogue.headparrot wrote:The Duck Sauce Movie was a collection of music videos put together by Michael Nesmith. Couldn't agree more about more about Tales from Margaritavision finally being released on DVD. It would also be nice to see Live By The Bay get the DVD treatment along with his Austin City Limits appearances. A lot of the old (and new) episodes of Austin City Limits are being released by New West Records on DVD and CD so hopefully Buffett's appearances will make the cut. Then, there's the whole CD remastering/repackaging nightmare of his back catalogue. Maybe one day...

It really isn't good enough to watch all the way thru (said from personal experience). The book was much better than the movie.

I had forgotten about Elephant Parts. I believe Duck Sauce was Nesmith's follow up to Elephant Parts. Actually, I think I remember seeing it written somewhere that Elephant Parts was really the inspiration for creating MTV.Jahfin wrote: Thanks for clarifying, I was thinking that was the Buffett connection but I wasn't sure.
