Backstage passes for military?

Post by smferreira »

Hi. My husband is in Afghanistan and will be getting back to Hawaii just in time for the show on 19 April. He heard over there that military members returning from deployment will get backstage passes at the show. My questions are is this true and if so, where can I get more info about it? Has anyone else heard about this?

I hope this is true, but considering the fairly large number of military members who just returned to Hawaii from Afghanistan and Iraq, it seems like this would overwhelm the small "back stage" area at the Shell.

Now, maybe some recently returned commands/units will be given a certain number of pre-party passes for their members. That makes a lot more sense to me. I'd recommend your husband ask his command about it.

I'd contact the venue as well to see if they know anything about it. You may want to even contact Margaritaville in Key West (via e-mail) there's usually someone there who knows who to call to find out what's going on.

I'm with Palmetto, you're best bet is to contact the venue and see if they offer anything for that.

Thanks for your ideas. I will try it. Hubby isn't the one who is REALLY into Buffett, I am, but he's getting there. This will be his second concert - we went to the one in January 2004 and he sounds excited about going again. It would be cool to get him backstage (and for me as well!) When Jimmy was here in Jan 04, he had some military people in uniform come up on stage and he tributed them, it was cool. I love his support for the military.

Remember when the Navy guys tossed their hats into the audience? One of those hats lives at my house now. 8) :D

So you were at that concert too? You know, it seems to me that the crowd was pretty tame compared to concerts I had been told about from my Dad. (That Jan 04 show was my first). We were the only group in the area of the lawn where we were that was on their feet and singing and dancing. Most of the people around us didn't seem to get into it. At least until WDWGDAS. I just expected more of a party from the crowd. Oh well, our group had fun though, and plan to again this year!

I called the Shell and she gave me the number for Tom Moffett productions so I have to wait for their office to open then I'll give them a call. I'll let y'all know what happens.

The Waikiki crowd was indeed laid back, and the Maui concert was even MORE laid back. It's Hawaii.... everything runs on Island Time. :D

DEFINITELY a different experience from a "typical" Buffett show, but I still loved it. :D

I haven't been to Afganistan yet but I just suffered through 3 weeks in Alpena, Michigan! I assume my backstage passes will be waiting for me when I check into the hotel in Hawaii! 8)

What makes you think you being there has anything to do with my decision to go?
