Tailgating in Philly

Just wondering ...We are staying at the Holiday Inn for the Sat. show. Does anyone know if they allow tailgating in their parking lot?? I've heard they do for Eagles games. I e-mailed them twice and got no reply.

I know we have awhile to go till the show, but there's nothing wrong with planning ahead.

In the past they've always allowed tailgating for concerts i've attended at the first union spectrum and center. They even accomodated the crowd with several outdoor port-a-pots. I wouldn't imagine that they would change this rule for buffett, i would think they might even make it more accomadating.

tailgating in philly should not be a problem. there was an incident a while back when somebody's car blew up from a charcoal grill being placed hot underneath the gastank. it blew up and a couple of other cars went up in flames as well. i think they didn't allow charcoal grills for a while, buti think they do now.

Since we're on the topic, does anyone know about hotel guests getting a guaranteed parking space in the hotel lot? Not that I'm selfish, but I'd like to know I have a spot before they're all gone. We'll be there plenty early, but so will alot of other people, and with the hotel being so close to the Citz Bank Park, you never know.

Following is a response from New Era Tickets about shipping of tix and parking passes:
"The tickets will be mailed out in April. The difference between the reserved parking and tailgate parking is that the reserved parking is closer, but the only lot you can tailgate in will be the tailgate lot. As of right now, they have not determined what time the parking lots will be opened. I hope this answers your questions! Thank you very much and have a great day. "
Now...there are many lots owned by many groups near the stadiums. The Holiday Inn lot should not be a problem. The "City-owned" lots are the ones described above. I understand their definition of "tailgating" is open containers and open flames. In the non-tailigating lots they MAY insist that all alcohol be in colored plastic cups (no cans or bottles visible) as they do for football games (and if you ignore the warning, they confiscate ALL you liquor). And they MAY hassle for open flames.
In other non-city lots they pretty much don't care, but I've seen the price of these lots exceed $50 during playoff football games. Don't mean to discourage, but this is what I've experienced.

This is just a flat out lie by the management of New Era. In the history of Philadelphia Sports, unless I am unaware of it, they have not stopped people from tailgaiting in any parking lot minus say the VIP lots for the Club Box or Suite holders. We know of the people who blew up their truck. It was a mistake. It was not because it was the mis use of a grill. The grill was placed under the truck by mistake and during the game it went up in flames. They did NOT stop the use of grills at anytime. What they did stop was open flames in the parking lot, like barrells with wood in it, minature fireplaces etc. Not grills. There is enough parking for 70,000 Eagles fans and 50,000 tailgate, we are known the nation over for our roll out of tailgating and new era is going to stop this with one lot?? Right. I am sure the Jetro management with the HUGE parking lot right across the Citizens will say yah no tailgaiting. This is a joke and the funny part is new era is from philly and they know they are lying. I am sure the tailgating lot will have benifits and it will be the Darien street lot right across the stadium I think, but outside of that they are lying about the no tailgaiting.
As for the Holiday inn. Their parking lot is a fun lot to party in, but move close to the stadium if you can. It is a bit of a walk with a load on. But it is fun and it fills up quick and they charge like 50 to park in it.
