and, btw, I was quickly and sharply corrected by my Hawaiian friends..... it's not a Hawaiian shirt..... it's an Aloha shirt..... I know, I know, we all call them Hawaiian shirts, but apparently that's a misnomer....
Tom Selleck in his Magnum days...hotsy totsy!

My grandmother ALWAYS wore a dress. I never saw her in pants, ever....tikitatas wrote:Just for fun, tell me some clothing that reminds you of how your grandparents dressed.

I saw her and just screamed "Oh my god, you have pants on"
I dont think I have ever seen her out of a skirt!
(mind you - they would say the same thing if they saw me in a skirt or dress

My hubby almost always tucks his shirt in, can't change him after 30 years. Yes, even his aloha shirts.Big Phan wrote:Aloha shirt...I'll remember that! I guess when our grandmothers got their hair done, they didn't want to get it messed up! Hence the scarves and rainhats!

I think what we wore in the 70's and '80's were cool ...... BACK IN THOSE DAYS!
Now they just seem to look ridiculous.
Had to throw out my pink Lacoste polo shirt, my Members Only jacket,
my Miami Vice-type sportcoats.... good riddance '80's!
I have a buddy who still wears his O.P. cord shorts (the kind that only go halfway down) and tucks his hawaiian shirts into 'em.
He's married, so he doesn't give a damn anymore....
I almost can't wait for today's teens to grow up so THEY can look back and
realize how ridiculous some today's "styles" really are!

Yeah, I agree. Guess it has always been this way . . . each generation gets to look back, gasp and remark how they can't believe they wore that. What do you remember about how you grandparents dressed as older people??Lightning Bolt wrote: I almost can't wait for today's teens to grow up so THEY can look back and

I dont think the speedo should be banned - it is part of the Aussie beach scene (you know they originated here) so I am a BIG fan of them ....SchoolGirlHeart wrote:y'know.... I do have to say.... I was actually at my fashionable best in my early to late teens. My Aunty who is extremely wealthy - gave me her hand-me-downs (only a few months old) as they fitted me - I had all the good gear back then .... I dread to think of how it really did look!Lightning Bolt wrote:In the days of disco, I actually had a powder blue Angel's Flight suitSchoolGirlHeart wrote:OMG............ the LEISURE SUIT.....Lightning Bolt wrote:I think what we wore in the 70's and '80's were cool ......
