Redneck Food

Post by ragtopW »

OK A check on the Redneck foods we all may or may not eat..

and is this part of being redneck? how big a part ?

Organ meat
Heart/liver

tongue
wild game
Grits
Crawdads
Red beans and rice
Pork rinds
Okra
cornbread
fried chicken gizards
greens
blackeyed peas
fried Bologna sandwiches
Bologna gravy
frog legs
Fresh side pork

On the Grits my Grandmother made them and poured them in a pan to harden/cool than sliced the grits into strips
fried the strips and served them with syrup
has anyone else had them this way???

and what did I miss?

the only one I do not care for is the side pork I am a bacon freak
and if it looks like bacon and smells like bacon and is fried like bacon.....

Oh yes I do also prefer my Grits in a bowl now. I was 20 before I knew they were served soft and not fried.

Turtle is on my "to do" list. I've heard possum is greasy, according to some old timers I know.
