PubClub.com is working on a Party Bus for Toronto. Check the site for information. Speciifically, it will be on our main Buffett page at:
http://www.pubclub.com/specialevents/buffett.htm

There are two potential tailgate locations, a gass "parking lot" near the Princess Gates and Fort York, each about a 5-minute walk to the concert. There's also a big park all along the water which could also serve as tailgate host.

PubClub.com also has a great city and bar guide to Toronto, or what locals call "T.O." It's a great place.

Phins UP!

With the concert just over a month away, on Thursday I am sitting down with everyone going on the trip up from Boston. I have heard several rumors of everything going on all weekend, we will be arriving mid afternoon on Sunday, I have heard about the Boat Bash, the bus Pub Crawl, and a few different potential pre parties, between an open field that is a few minutes walk from the concert and also a marina that is very close. Is there any news on a definate preparty location, also is there a break down of everything going on that weekend? Right now I have the following list feel free to add anything i missed. Nice summary on the phestivities! I'll just add a few more notes, most of which you are prolly already aware so forgive me if I'm repeating myself:

If you are staying at the Valhalla Inn, ask for the Parrothead rate of $99 (plus taxes) per room. There are lots of other PHs booked there already - it should be a party in itself.

The Keating Channel Pub, home of the TMRPHClub, will have a brand new Tiki Bar installed by the time the Saturday night party rolls around. The band is awesome; the lead singer actually won a Buffett talent contest and sang on stage with Jimmy the last time he was here in Toronto! (we have pictures) And the guest perfomer Rick Bennett used to play bass with Jimmy back in university I think it was. Should be a very phun nite.

The "Mermaid in the Night" party in the Mermaid lounge at the Valhalla Inn should be good too. Malibu Bob is an over-the-top karaoke guy who brings tropical props and prizes, even spare Hawaiian shirts (not necessary in this crowd!) and even has a buncha wireless mics so pholks in the audience can sing along with whoever's on stage (or heckle). We had this guy at one of our parties and we had a great time.

The "tailgate" is a private party within the grounds of Ontario Place which is an amusement park with rides, waterslides etc. Your concert ticket gets you into the grounds free onthe day of the concert, then our party is another $10. It really is on a beach, on Lake Ontario, with tents and volleyball nets set up. Live band of course. And we are pretty sure there will be at least a burger or beer (or both) included with admission. We're still working on Molson/Corona on that. It's right beside the concert venue. While it would be nice to do a traditional tailgate, we're pretty sure the authorities are gonna keep a pretty tight lid on things so that's why we're having this beach party instead. 8)

The three-event lanyards ($25) will be personalized for you if you order in advance. Actually I think you're going to get a personalized lanyard tag even if you just pre-pay for one event- still firming that up. Keets 18 and under, half price. (except the bus crawl - adults only! - and the bus transfers from the Valhalla to the beach party/concert and back) And don't forget - all prices are in Canadian$! :D

Everything should be clear if you visit http://www.maplereefers.ca or just contact me.

You might also want to talk to our sister PHClub in nearby Hamilton, to see what they have going on. See previous posts by fns2zlft for info and email.

Can't wait to meet y'all on concert weekend. Barely a month away!

about the "tailgate" party, a few questions....

1. How close to the stadium is it?
2. Is it bring your own beer or do you buy it there? Same with food?
3. If you buy it there how much will it cost?
4. Would it make sense to go at like 10:00 AM and ride the rides and water slides before?
5. Do we have to buy tickets in advance or can we buy them there?

So many questions, so little time to answer before I buzz off to work, late again as usual!

1) The stadium is easy stumbling distance from the party. It's all within the grounds of Ontario place. see http://www.ontarioplace.com for more info. You can see a picture of the party area at http://www.ontarioplace.com/en/groups/v ... beach.html

2) "Coolers" are allowed into Ontario Place and there are picnic tables around. I'm not 100% sure what the content of those coolers is allowed to be; obvoiusly food but not sure about alcohol. I'm going to contact them and let you know. No BBQs or other "grilling devices". And then there's the question of what you do with the cooler during the concert.

3) Prices all over the place depending on what you buy. Everything from pizza slices and burgers to sit-down restaurants. Stuff will be overpriced as a rule, including beer etc. We are almost 100% sure there will be a burger included with the "tailgate" admission but have been told that they are normally $4.50 each, not too bad actually especially in Canadian dollars. I don't think Corona is going to pony up a beer with admission, tho.

4) Fer sher I would say you should go and play all day. Shouldn't be too crowded on a Monday; I think the kids are still in school. I'm just dying to see a conga line of PHs going up the stairs to the waterslide! NB - rides are extra cost; have a look at the web site.

5) Nope, you don't have to buy "tailgate" tix in advance but if you do, we'll do you up a personalized lanyard tag.

TTFN - contact me if you need more info. :D

Who are the Maritimers coming

I am Derek "Wild-Life-Betrayed-Me" Knights, Membership Director of the Maple Reefers, and annual denizen of the cage at Relic's during the Pictou NS Lobster Carnival, as well as a happy wanderer through the parking lots of Great Woods twice a year since 2001. ('cept last year...but including this year...)

I know there are some Maritimers coming - maybe even some New Englanders (which is almost as good) - and I'd like to make sure we link up. After all, my mother, who, in her 70's has been to many Buffet concerts since her first in 1994...and would love to meet all you folks who share her Atlantic heritgae (she's from Pictou, you know.)

Let me know if you're coming to all or any of our events (and especially why NOT!!!) so we can chat over a jar.

And another thing....

Starting at 3pm, there will be a Maple Reefers Tailgate party at South Beach, Ontario Place, under the canvas, thanks to Corona, and M'ville Tequila has supplied some prizes. Your magic lanyard will get you in, or it's $10 at the gate for entry to party and the door prize raffle.

Whether you're dropping in from wandering T.O., or hopping off the bus from Hamilton, or just arriving after a screaming drive along the 401, here is the place to get yourself ready for the show, visit friends old and new, swap stories and autographs...you know...

Northern Harbour will be playing their Buffett repertoire - come and have a beer, burger, and be entertained by Brian and the guys and all the special guests of the TMRPHC.

Let us know in advance if you want a personalized lanyard for this event...available if you prepay. This is a private party with limited space, reservations are suggested...we are a high-class group, us parrotheads.

Those of you arriving on Friday or Saturday, check out www.maplereefers.ca for Sat/Sun fun. If you are staying at the Valhalla, there will be a hospitality table run by reefers...if you are staying in the Hamilton area, or west of Toronto, check out our website for info on Hamilton PHC events. The have Sunday and Monday parties and a shuttle to/from the concert.

Yeah...I sorta thought that was a good way to prod a response....And I've had a bowl of clam chowder in Gloucester...so I can dig it. I'm going to both shows at Great Woods.

Are you linking up with any of the Maple Reefer's events in Toronto?

See you then.

I should be at the tailgate, and we're staying at the Valhalla, I don't know about saturday night, we're thinking the boat bash because of the open bar situation but we have to sit down and think about this one because we will have just completed 8 hours in the car and at that point I know i am going to just want a nap

The Malibu Bob evening will be fun...Mermaid in the Night...you can cut a few hours driving time if you check out the ferry from Rochester to Toronto. Should be back in operation by then.

Bad news on the ferry, it is not going to be in-service now until June 17th

http://www.wroctv.com/news/story.asp?id=17841&r=l

I had every intention of taking advantage of it since it was originally scheduled to go in-service Memorial day weekend.

Thanks for the info

That rusted out hulk near Jordan Harbour counts as a pirate ship?
It used to look pretty neat but now it's all burned out and rusted -- a real eyesore IMHO.

Yup
