Just got my Soundscan and JB has 2 in the Top 200.
# 66 Live In Hawaii - scanned 20,803
# 152 License To Chill - scanned 9,006 for a total of 1,369,056

I have to say I thought Live in Hawaii would do a little better. It sold out at several stores here. Considering it got no advertising that I saw AND it's been available via mail order for several months, 20,000 copies really isn't bad.

That's the rub. With no advertising, retail doesn't commit to a large buy-in and stores are stuck getting 1-3 copies. Retail advertising is very expensive, but you are guaranteed a minimum buy-in number to work with. One of the reasons LTC did so well out of the box was co-op advertising. A lot of set up dollars were spent and that thing was everywhere.

My Circuit City and Best Buy were both sold out. Best Buy was getting in 25 copies yesterday (have to stop tonight) and even the Circuit City web site had it back ordered. Luckily, I got a raincheck for $10.99.

Hawaii couldn't possibly do better. Way too many of his fans bought it months ago.

I agree, I think #66 is pretty darn good for a cd that's been available to fans for quite some time.
