The "ck" is silent, I guess ol' Bruce got mocked when he was little, so now he goes for the Coburn sound.

Yep... y'know, being an entertainer, you'd think he'd just go ahead and change the spelling 8)

There was a real singing nun who did a french show and sang Dominique who shot herself. I dont think I could just fabricate that in my head. lol

Soeur Sourire aka The Singing Nun killed herself in 1985. I don't think she was a real nun though, but she sang Dominique.

I stand corrected she was a real nun, but left to continue her singing career. Then she opened a center for autistic children. She doanted all her money to the center, but the Belgian gov't said she owed $60000. She couldn't pay it, so sher killed herself. What a sad way to go.

Well, td, seems they haven't heard of Tom Cochrane either!!!!

When he was a kid, he'd be up at five
Take shots till eight, make the thing drive
Out after school, back on ice
That was his life, he was gonna play in the Big League
The Big League

Not many ways out of this cold northern town
You work in the mill and get laid in the ground
If you're gonna jump it will be with the game
Real fast and tough is the only clear lane to the Big League

My boy's gonna play in the Big League
My boy's gonna turn some heads
My boy's gonna play in the Big League
My boy's gonna knock 'em dead
The Big League

All the right moves when he turned eighteen
Scholarship and school on a big U.S. team
Out with his girl near Lake McClean
Hit a truck doing seventy in the wrong lane
To the Big League

My boy's gonna play in the Big League
My boy's gonna turn some heads
My boy's gonna play in the Big League
My boy's gonna knock 'em dead

Never can tell what might come down
Never can tell how much you get
Just don't know, no you never can tell

Sometimes at night I can hear the ice crack
It sounds like thunder and it rips through my back
Sometimes in the morning I still hear the sound
Ice meets metal...
"Can't you drive me down to the Big League?"

My boy's gonna play in the Big League
My boy's gonna turn some heads
My boy's gonna play in the Big League
My boy's gonna knock 'em dead

Never can tell what might come down
Never can tell when you might check out
Just don't know, no you never can tell
So do right to others like you do to yourself
In the Big League

Tom Cochrane- Big League

I was just seventeen, when I made the AHL
I couldn't skate in junior, but my fists rang like a bell.
I'll never win a title, and I'll never win the cup,
But when it comes to ladies, I've had the best of luck.

My first one was a sly one, hanging round the rink,
But they sent me off to Cornwall, as fast as you could blink,
In Moose Jaw I was right in love, the daughter of the coach —
He traded me for nothing, didn't take to my approach.

So good-bye, fare thee well,
There's no time for delay,
You'll see me at the face-off, or catch the play-by-play
So good-bye, fare thee well,
I'm glad you shared my bed,
But never trust a fellow with a helmet on his head.

Who cares.

I’ve got a smile on my face, I’ve got four walls around me
The sun in the sky, the water surrounds me
I’ll win now but sometimes I’ll lose
I’ve been battered, but I’ll never bruise, it’s not so bad

Just for the record, mine was also a Great Big Sea song "Helmethead", but this one is "Ordinary Day".

Anybody here see the noise, see the fear
And commotion,
I think we missed it
Anybody here see the love, see the hate
Being motioned...

Robert Charlebois is Canada's answer to Jimmy Buffet.... ballads, rockers, songs about pot, songs about beer (he owns a micro-brewery), songs about heading south, away from the slush in winter, songs about old movies (sort of like Pencil Thin Moustache), songs about flying (Lindbergh), reggae, salsa, oh yea, lapsed choirboy stuff, too .......

Jimmy's older but cuter. Robert still has his hair, though!
