Did you want to escape,

the population?
The pressure is deceiving,
and for you particularly
Should we let a young man die?
Let him die if he wants to?
Die if he wants to
Ah come on, this is an easy one.

Naveed - Our Lady Peace
I've got a smile on my face, and I've got four walls around me
I've got the sun in the sky, ah, the water surrounds me, oh you know
Yeah, I'll win now but sometimes I'll lose
I've been battered, but I'll never bruise ... it's not so bad.

And now I'm feelin' better,
'Cause I found out for sure.
She took me to her doctor
And he told me of a cure.

B-b-baby, you just ain't seen n-n-nothin' yet! BACHMAN TURNER OVERDRIVE
I'm looking for a place
I'm searching for a face
Is anybody here I know?
Coz nothing's going right
And everything's a mess
and no one likes to be alone

I know it's an Avril Lavigne song just from hearing it, but I'm not sure of the title.

Give me a moment
To try and explain it
And how it has changed
The man that I am
Life has a way
When you try to arrange it
Of makin a fool
Of the best laid plans
Guess what I'm tryin to say
Is you took me by surprise
One word is all that it takes
And forever's on my mind
It happens everytime

Any country fans should know this one... well Canadian country fans at least. And no, it's not Hank Snow.

Okay, here's a hint, his last album contained covers of Gordon Lightfoot's Alberta Bound and C.W. McColl's Convoy.

Paul Brandt, I think. Don't know that song, though . . .
I had two jobs, I had dishwater hands
And on the weekend in a rock & roll band
One Friday night in my hometown bar
In walked a girl who looked like a movie star
She stared at me and it was turning me on
She said she worked in a beauty salon
I heard a voice inside me say

The previous song was "When You Call My Name". So Tikitatas, do you get the feeling that this is just a back and forth game? lol

We need to get them all in on this. It needs to be a group effort.

I'm here but I'm old... aside from BN Ladies, Great Big Sea, that my kids (who are getting oldish themselves) have introduced me to, my tastes go back to the folkies. Sure, the standards, Lightfoot, Ian & Sylvia, the Rogers brothers, as well as Murray McLaughlin, Bim (Roy Forbes), Valdy, Connie Kaldor, Nancy White, Edith Butler, Vigneault, Charlebois, et al, and many, many, many others whose names I only forget because of that aging thing and the fact I AM supposed to be working at this moment!) , and especially my friend Bob Bossin of Stringband.
And OF COURSE, my brother, who has been a minor fixture in Canadian rock for decades.
Here's one of his:
Sheila, she loves, she loves somebody,
Sheila, she loves, she don't love me....
etc.
There are more BN Canucks, I know... all those Toronto people, and Frozen Parrot here in Ottawa....

I want to know where my confidence went
One day it all disappeared
And I'm lying in a hotel room miles away
Voices next door in my ear
Daytime's a drag, Nightime worse
Hope that I can get home soon
But the half-finished bottles of inspiration
Lie like ghosts in my room

I came into town as a man of renown
A writer of songs about freedom and joy
A hall had been rented and I was presented
As the kind of a singer most folks could enjoy
As I climbed up the stair to the stage standing there
It was obvious something was missing
I could tell by the vibes they wouldn't be bribed
They weren't in the mood to listen

I had a dream I was moving forward
Floating gently to the sun
I’ve come to see my world rewarded
A new day has begun
A lost bird caught in mid migration
Far away to a foreign land
Offspring of a secret nation
A new day has begun
