Has anyone ever been reprimanded for being on Buffettnews during work. i just started a new position at the company that I work at that allows me to acess the internet and was wondering what to do if I get busted. So if you have been busted by the higher ups what excuse did you use and did it work. So when I get busted I can use your excuse.

Its "research" or "networking".

It has never been a problem for me at work... look at my post count.

I have always found that if you get your work done, meet your boss's expectations and are a team player, then no one will mind you taking 5 minutes a few times throughout the day for yourself.

However if you are a clock watcher, take a smoke break every hour, take 1 1/2 lunches, arrive late and leave early, then the boss may be looking for a reason to take you down.

Not meaning to sound like your mother.... but you need to rack up a few "atta boys" at your new job before you take advantage of company bandwidth! Surf responsibly!

I am in the IT department and the only two people who I worry about getting caught is the owner or his wife. I really do not think that they will say anything but would rather be prepared just in case

Yep. Used to post from work all the time. Management started looking at everyone's online usage - and got a slap on the wrist. I quit posting. Ain't worth losing my job over.
