Is missing Jimmy the end of the world?
With Jimmy not playing Alpine Valley or Tweeter in Chgo, is the world going to end? I will be there a Wrigley Field working (buy a beer from Me) Life will go on. Me, My Wife and phriends have always had a blast wherever we saw Jimmy. Come on, there is RM, a couple of cold ones, and a backyard. Am I right?

He didn't play Great Woods last year and the world didn't end, so I think we're safe...Ron Raney wrote:With Jimmy not playing Alpine Valley or Tweeter in Chgo, is the world going to end?

Alpine is one of MY favorite venues. But I just don't see the world ending anytime soon. Wrigley Field is definately not my first choice (for a concert), but with Jimmy I'll take what I can get.
And yes, we have other fun parrothead events going on all summer, TWO fantastic bands are coming to the Cedar Rapids area-Stars On the Water in May, and Johnny Russell and the Beach Bum Band on July 16. And, of course, there's always R.M., my C.D. players my patio, back yard, coolers, and...............well, you get the idea.
When you get to be as old as I am (and if you're lucky, you WILL) you MAKE life be fun.

To me it's just disappointing.
Only the obsessive have called it "Jimmy's favorite venue". Only the obsessive have called it "a shrine" or hinted that "Jimmy should just retire if he won't play Alpine". There is something wrong with those people.
It's disappointing for me, because we spend so much time planning for the Alpine shows year round, and when it doesn't happen, it turns out to be wasted energy. I can go to Wrigley, but the tailgate party won't be happening. I can go to Indy, but the things my group does won't travel well, especially because we do it as a group, and if Craig or Amie or Charlie can't come, a big chunk of what we do is missing!!!
But seeing Jimmy is special anywhere. And in the end, it's really about the show. I love seeing my PH friends, and there are some that I only get to see at the Alpine show. But in the end, if I get to see Jimmy Buffett, it's been a good day.

I'm obsessive, but I haven't said those things, and there is something wrong with me, but I digress.CaptainP wrote:Only the obsessive have called it "Jimmy's favorite venue". No, it's not the end of the world, just a minor stumbling block, only not induced by alcohol.
