I Really Hate to Post This

Tonight during the Santa Barbara show, Jimmy made this statement:
"Seems like a good way to finish out these last couple years, just crank it up leisurely in Santa Barbara."
Of course, we all knew that the day was coming when JB would hang it up. He turns 60 in a year and a half. But, I was really hoping he would keep it going for another ten years or so.

All I can say is that enjoy every show to the fullest, and make it a point to go to as many shows as you can because it is sadly gonna be coming to an end in the not too distant future. :( :(

Don't read too much into it.

It'll end when it ends. Enjoy it until then!

Ugh, hanging it up would not be cool... Ten more years would be cool!

Jimmy is a very smart businessman, He has been saying he is retiring for years and guess what? he still sells out most all venues he plays. If he says he is hanging it up it gets all of you in a huge uproar so you then try and see as many shows as you can. Its his way of KEEPING his summer job. My best guess is he will play as long as he has his health and energy and enthusiasm. He has also hinted at having us come to him, I doubt if he chooses Branson MO, but it could be on an island somewhere and we would all take our vacations and go see him play in Jaimaca, Belize, Hawaii, Barbados, Costa Rica, who knows, but it would be a hellava Margaritaville if that is what he does!!!!! So my point ( is on the top of my head) is that he may stop touring as we have known it, but he won't stop playing, we may just have to travel more, so get a job, save your nickels for when that day comes. The huge advantage to that situation is he would attract his true fans ( I know who is to judge that) and there would be less people showing up just for the huge party. However it would be a HUGE party.

I'd rather just not know... I just want to see him play, and then the next year, nothing... because you know it would be so hard to get tickets if he announced retirement.

And face it, he's going to sell out anyway....

I agree......

And maybe he'll just wind it on down.... do fewer and fewer shows until the only place you see him is in a bar in Panama, if you're really, really lucky. :D

He's said he'll retire when his voice goes flat.
Hawaii CD has numerous spots where he had trouble with his pitch, and more than a few spots where he "spoke" rather than sang the words.
I'm hoping for the best, but wouldn't bet on 10 years...

:( :( :(

I go by the notion that every year I see Jimmy may be the last so I save the ticket stub and enjoy the show and hope for next year. It looks like he has already reduced the amount of shows he is doing this year but atleast I am lucky enough to see him at Nissan this year.

I hope that Buffett does decide to retire that he doesn't drag it out in the manner of The Who, The Eagles, etc.

If Jimmy should retire, do you think he would show to a party if we gave him one 12 time :-? s a year

I'd agree, but he hasn't reached that point yet. His shows are still fun because he appears to be still having fun.
