I'm certainly not attacking you because I see many media devices using the same term when they should be referring to "Pope John Paul II". Saying the Pope died would imply that there would never be another one. :-?

While I do feel sorry for those that have felt the loss; I'm not catholic nor do I have a connection to the catholic church. I don't like going to funerals, so its a pretty good bet that I'm not going to spend my day watching one on television.

Ok, go ahead and open fire on me now.
No need to. Your point is valid.
do you suppose it's closely related to our curiosity with the Royals? Deny it as much as we do, it's still there...... being Catholic though I find the celebration of his life to be well deserved...and we're known for our pagentry, as all of it does have very special meaning..

I've never really understood the cuiosity with Royals either. I didn't watch Charles and Di's wedding or Di's funeral. I don't plan on watching Charles' next wedding or any of the kids' antics.

I could not begin to tell what the fascination is, it's just there, there is no denying it...perhaps because the lineage can be traced back to well, almost the beginning of AD.

And who would not want to believe in Sherwood Forest?

the study of the beginning of the Catholic faith and St.Peter are an amazing part of religious history, as well as just not so ordinary history..the Apostles' Creed, Nicene Creed, etc. very interesting reading...or I thought so.

No - it is in the same area of my "must watch on tv list" for the weekend as Charles and Cammilla's wedding is - at the bottom!

Considering I'll probably be awake anyway feeding a little 'keet, I'll probably watch some of it (unless the 'keet actually lets me sleep at that time).

I will certainly watch it. As a Catholic..it is a huge loss for our church. It is history being made and just like I watched other major events of history...like the Red Sox winning the world series...I will watch and honor the memory of a great man.

buffettbride wrote:I probably will (the rerun anyway). Since I have to burn a vacation day because the Archdiocese of Denver thought it would be fabulous to cancel school on Friday, I'll be burning a vacation day to watch the coverage, providing a good example for my aspiring-Catholic 7-year-old.
How come your Catholic school is closed and mine isn't :-?
