No news on Wrigley

Post by ejr »

I talked to a friend of mine today who works for a company with a skybox at Wrigley---they have not been told anything about the concerts at Wrigley yet, and have not even had an announcement about the concerts. For games they get their skybox plus they can buy 4 additional tickets, and they are eagerly awaiting word as to whether they will have access to their skybox or not.

She has promised to let me know as soon as she hears anything, and I will pass it on. She is one of my hopes for a concert ticket!

When Jimmy played Fenway last September, tickets didn't go on sale until May 8th, so it'll probably be happening fairly soon.

Jimmy comming to Wrigley is all nice and good, but Fenway will always be the first ballpark he played... it will be interesting to see which tickets sell for more on ebay, Jimmy at Wrigley or the Red Sox at wrigley for the first time in a very long time
Both shows at Greatwoods in June
Seattle and Vegas in October

Girlfriend doesn't realize that shes going to be a parrothead by the end of this summer whether she likes it or not.

I'll go with the red sox v cubs tickets on this...it will be a higher percentage if not dollar amount...an $60 pair of seats is going for close to $400 on ebay...thats quite a markup...the scalpers already have the 'lower level' seats for sale for $400 a pop for buffett meaning the field seats will likely include a comma...a $150 face value will mean quite an investment no matter if you get them at 'face' or from a broker, by the time tickets.com is done, these tickets will run about $350 a pair with fees and shipping...

Well, it's official anyway! Just heard a promo, and called to confirm...

John and Ray, at Chicago's US99 country station (99.5), are giving away Buffett Wrigley tickets starting Monday morning... "get 'em here first!".

Official when?

Post by coolcallie »

So will it be Saturday and Monday or Sunday and Monday?

Couple of weeks ago had a chance to talk to a band member (PM); he said he didn't know which, but JB really doesn't like to perform two nights in a row.....

I expect that's been the delay. Me? I'm covered; I booked a hotel for Saturday AND Sunday. :D

I posted an item a week ago. There was a meeting with the CUBS, bar owners and City Officials about a week ago. The CUBS stated that there was most likely going to be a concert on Sunday and Monday. The CUBS said that they could not set up a stage any sooner than Sunday so that is why the shows would be back to back. If this is the case, even though it is against his normal routine I believe Jimmy would play these dates so he could play in Wrigley. They are still dotting the i's and crossing the t's but it is almost a done deal.
They anticipated the tickets going on sale mid-late April. As of the meeting the only pre-sales would skyboxes but like anything else this could change. They had still not sorted out how they were going to sell the resident tickets that were promised.
City officials said that they would put limitations (don't know what they meant by that) on tailgating. CUBS parking lots are very few and very small so tailgating in those would have been a problem anyway.

The CUBS further stated that this would be the only concert this year and none in 2006. They would revisit concerts and other activites in 2007 based on the outcome of these shows.

The original discussion, months ago, talked about potential concerts at Wrigley every other year, with Buffett being the first year.

Friends with Clear Channel connections have said it is definite. My skybox friend (and potential ticket source) has not heard a thing yet, and they are all anxious to begin making plans.

Just talked to a friends aunt who is a season ticket holder. As of right now, they still know NOTHING. I was hoping for a little inside word on it, still hoping she will give me at least one of the tickets lol.

Thanks, but no thanks!!! Rush Street is so in my past!

These days, I prefer to scoot up to a bar stool on Halsted - much more relaxed!

Then again, Chicago is more about eating, sight-seeing and shopping than it is drinking. Nice try though, Ringling!
