Oops! Don't stress until you know for sure. In the whole scope of things, $93.50 is meaningless. It sukks to have to pay that out again, but if you do don't let it ruin your experience!
`How do you know I'm mad?' said Alice.
`You must be,' said the Cat, `or you wouldn't have come here.'
Hmmm. In Colorado you can sign it either way (I signed w/ my maiden name)...when you go to the DMV and Social Security office, it should be ok to begin updating your information w/ your married name. I haven't had a problem so far.
I was married LAST May and am just now changing all of my records because I waited to change my name until my husband adopted our daughter. It's a big pain in the ass. Got my social security card done, just trying to find motivation to get my drivers license done which will enable me to get things like bank accounts, etc. etc. updated.
I also have to get my passport because we're going to Mexico in less than two months...yay me!

Yeah...that's what I've heard. Hubby's stressin' out a bit about it.
with good reason...mine got sent back AFTER they held onto it for 6-7 weeks...said I couldnt renew by mail since my first passport had been issued when I was 16 or something stupid like that. Of course I didn't have enough time to start from scratch and mail it in, so had to sit all day in the Federal building in LA trying to get one in 3 days. And that was with plane tickets in hand to prove when I was leaving, the guy was a real jerk and wouldn't guarantee he'd have it ready by Friday. My flight left Saturday.
Of course it almost didn't matter. I got Salmonella poisoning the day we first went to get the passport. I spent the next 2 days wishing I was dead. It is still a miracle I got on the plane...and was fine the entire trip.

Uhh. That's encouraging. But I'll get on it. I have to get my drivers license first, and that's a fiasco in and of itself.

yeah it takes forever to get your passport updated, there are ways to expidite it (ie spend more money) but travelling with either name won't be a problem:
PROVIDED BOTH YOUR PASSPORT AND AIRLINE TICKET USE THE SAME NAME.
the airlines will charge you to re-issue a ticket in a different name.
don't laugh, my firend that just got married got burned by this. not thinking she booked their honeymoon tickets using her husband's name but her driver's license was still in her maiden name.....
security didn't care they had just gotten married the day before....
I'd feel bad for you, but I have no soul.....

has that law that says you have to have a passport to come back from Mexico and Canada taken effect yet??
I think so. Everyone I've talked to says I need to have it. And we've booked all of our travel for this year in my married name.
hmmmmmmm I thought the new law didn't take effect till 2008
I could be wrong. Either way, I'm gonna bring a gazillion forms of ID so I can get back in the country. I'd hate to miss Nissan on acct of something so stupid.
