I want to be a drug dealer!

A LEGAL one, that is. I recently finished my Bachelor's degree in Organizational Management and have been trying to get into the pharmaceutical sales business since last August. Everyone told me from the beginning how tough it is to get in. I just thought it wouldn't be that hard for me given the fact that I have been working in the medical field for over 10 years now...WRONG! I can't even get a toe in, let alone a foot!

Any tips?

Where do you live? I have a bil who does pharmaceutical sales for Merck. He's no help getting a job but what he had told me in the past is that they will generally give anybody a chance at sales if you have your bachelors. In fact there are several listings for Merck sales on monster boards right now for a June training class. If you are good at it the pay is very good.

I always thought that would be a cool job too. It seems like you just go around and buy doc's offices lunch! My cousin went to a career fair (he was a respiratory therapist) and got a job as a drug rep. He works for GlaxoSmithKline (sp?) now. So, my answer is try a career fair!

Quint's sister used to do that.

There are almost always openings for that in Orlando.

Hey, thanks, OCG! I live in Northeast Mississippi. I've been in and out of monster.com alot, just haven't been in there lately. I'll definitely get in there today and see what's up.

Looks like you're gonna need to sleep with some people! But it'll all be worth it when the paychecks start rolling in!!

He's good for a hump... but I doubt it would move you up the corporate ladder...
