Superstitions

I saw a mention of Bloody Mary in another thread and it gave me the idea to start a superstition thread.... Whatcha got?

For me lets start with Bloody Mary. Thanks to this wonderful game to this day I hate mirrors. Even when I am walking in the house from the porch to the bathroom I have to turn the light on and off real quick as I pass the bathroom door into the house to be ensured that Bloody Mary will not be there. I can not even enjoy a candlelit bath for fear that the second I close my eyes to relax Bloody Mary will come out of the corner with a hatchet.

The other big one for me is talking about how a job interview went before I know the outcome.

I have a little sister who is terrified of mirrors to this day thanks to bloody mary. I won't walk under a ladder.

In my Irish family, it is bad luck to pass the salt hand to hand. You must only pick it up and place it on the table near the person who requested it.

My superstitions typically only apply to golf.

I only play with a white golf tee and a #1 golf ball.

No changing the name on a boat...
no talking about having a perfect game while said game is still in progress
No adding up strikes until one is missed (bowling)...

For good luck, your boat's name should have 3 a's in it.

Ours was the Sarabande.

I'm superstitious in reverse. I wore #13 on every softball team I ever played on.

i have to wear #1 on my hockey jersey.one night when i played backup for another goalie who was #1 and they stuck me with 35 i wore my #1 jersey underneath.
i also have to be the first player on the ice,and refuse to let pucks sit in my net during scrimmages(coaches hated that)
other than that i think i'm pretty normal

I never heard that one...but also a blue hull is bad luck or any name with lucky or 13 in it is bad luck for a boat. there is a boat here (at Point Judith) called the Lucky 13...but its not unlucky as far as I know.
