Then neither is Breakfast at Tiffany's. I would classify both as "romatic tragedy". Boy meets girl/they fall in love/realize they can't be together/go their seperate ways in memorable final scene. That's right up my alley these days, probably because I'm in the same spot right now as Bogie and George Peppard in those movies.

i can't believe no body has mentioned terms of endearment, fried green tomatoes, the way we were, love story,moonstruck. steel magnolias is one of my favorites. i could go on but i'll stop. i know some of these aren't real tear jerkers but i think anything that has a central female theme is a "chick flick".
did anyone list when harry met sally?
