That is good, but it is way out of date. I wrote to the guy who did it, and he figures that it is close enough.

If you are just trying to make a day trip of this out of Key West, realistically you probably won't get too far up the Keys. I doubt Alabama Jack's is reachable, especially if you are doing this on a weekend and if you stop anywhere in between. If money is no object, plan to have dinner on the way back at Little Palm Island - make a reservation now, and you may not be able to get in even with two weeks notice. Also, No Name Pub is a must - be VERY careful of the speed traps and local constables, especially on the way out - they look for tourists.

Have phun, and be safe!

Don't know what happened to the list over there, but that list is kind of a constant work in progress as places close, rename etc. Every time I stop somewhere for a bite I add or remove things. For instance, last year the kitchen at Snappers sucked, and pretty much everyone around knew it. Henry got a new cook, changed some things around, and I might even add it to my list of approved eateries for this years MOTM salmon run. We'll see. All I have to do is find out where the kitchen staff ended up after they left Snappers :o. Who knows....he might have ended up at that favorite place you went last year!! Bad help here finds a way of driftwooding around for a couple years.

And "oh by the way".........Florida Hwy Patrol in Monroe County recently secured a fleet of brand new unmarked black Mercury Mountaineers as patrol vehicles.

Just some pearls of wisdom I'm passing along here...drive safe.

A day trip out of KW is pretty ballsy, esp if you are intending to make Alabama Jacks. I would suggest a two day trip....from KW to KL, and then KL back to KW.

Sure, you can do it in one day, but you wont get to hang out at the places you want to see. And if you have never been to KL, then you ought to go to Pennekamp for a half day (and, I must admit, I have a soft spot for The Quay).

I also highly recommend Mangrove Mama's on Sugarloaf. One of my favorites. Definitely check out the No Name Pub (but, as people have said, do the speed limit). Also like Pepe's in KW.

Hell, going up and down the islands, we used to just stop on one of the landfilled islands, hop in the water, and play.

There are a couple places named the Quay right? There was one at MM130 or so, and then one further down about MM105 or so?

I think the farthest north I am going is to the bird sancuary. So, we aren't going the whole way up to AJ's. I can't wait, 10 days!
