Since Jimmy doesn't own the rights to reproducing the image of a lighthouse, I think it's safe to say that it's a coincidence.

How much variation could there be, really?

I mean.. if the image was flip-flopped it would throw off the balance of the book, from a graphics stand point...

I'm willing to bet there is no shortage of books with lighhouses on the cover....

what a thief!
if Nicholas Sparks' book had white sand, the same style lighhouse, a red and white lighthouse, a red boat on shore, the sun setting in the background,a blue sky, the ocean above the island, and a bunch of other things, it would be an exact match  .

You would be right. Just another example of Buffett fandom gone too far.

I'd say that anybody who buys a book just because there is a lighthouse on the cover but can't tell the difference between Nicholas Sparks and Jimmy Buffett or the difference between True Believer and A Salty Piece of Land, would probably enjoy either book.

Hmmm...... no, not really JUST him. :) I don't see that putting a lighthouse on the cover of a book is 'stealing' from Jimmy. :)
I just think that Jimmy has done a great job at marketing himself, in many different ways, and has a legal team that protects his interests. ;)

then the illiterate yahoo probably can't read the book to begin with.....  But assuming they could read, they'd probably go by ASPOL and read both books.

I can vouch for that one. I am from the Outer Banks and it is paradise. 8)

Some of you guys are funny. Jimmy is not the only author out there, there are thousands of books put out every year and neither of these are the first or last to feature a lighthouse on the cover. JB's book always looked like he did the cover himself, Comic Sans font and all... nothing to write home about.

What's freaky is that I'm reading this thread and all of a sudden Nicholas Sparks shows up on the Good Morning America at the same time. Crazy.
