Proud parent brag. They didn't think they qualified but apparently my sons 4x800 team will be running the Penn Relays. It took him 4 years of high school to get there. So even if they don't do well they're thrilled to be there running with people from all over the world.
Sorry, had to do a quick brag.

Good stuff...I used to love running the 4x8. We had huge rivalries with all the local schools, very competitive race

Congrats to your son's team. I'll scan the seeding charts and try to find them, can't be too many from the O.C. area.
How did the college selection resolve? JOHN

There's only one Ocean City High School so it's easy to see where they are. I doubt they're seeded very highly as they qualified by the skin of their teeth. I think the coach should have spent the year working on their dmr rather then the 4x8 since they are distance guys. But the thought was it's easier to qualify for the 4x8 then for dmr.
He's going to University of Maryland at Baltimore. The coach won him over. UMBC also recently scored another coupe. They got a guy named Kelhower from Lenape High School who won the indoor 3200 Nike Indoor Classic (the end of the indoor season) against some very tough competition.
Son just ran a tri-meet yesterday and won the 3200 as well as the mile and team taking the 4x8.
