Thats what this website has turned into.
Between ticket prices, Alpine, Chicago Tweeter, Atlanta, setlists, book cover rip offs, selling out, playing music for lots of $$$$$.

This site used to be alot more fun. I know its the minority that is doing the COMPLAINING and I also know Im not the only one thats sick of all the p*** and moaning about everything.

and while others are on their soap boxes let me jump on mine real quick, in addtion to the complaining, its quite distracting to read the pages of private converstations that go on when someone asks a question. Many other forms consider this thread jacking and it is discouraged.

I know that there are many peole that use this board as a way to catch up and keep in touch with one another, but the endless..."remember when so and so did that in Vegas or Alpine" and then there are 10 people who quote the entire response and add two words...if you want to try to get the 'meat' of the thread you must dig through all of this...I know that many people don't find this distracting, but when you only have a minute or two to stop by, its frustrating...

I'd just hate for my comments and the ones above to have this site turn into a small, hardly used site like other buffett sites have...

It seems are our once dysfunctional, yet happy family is falling apart at the seams. I think group therapy may be needed before it's too late!

Every year there's some grumbling about ticket brokers, prices and availability - but nothing like this year.

The worst part is watching all the strife between fellow PH's. It's really sad! :(

Yeah i wish every one would stop complaining...oh wait now i am complaining...oh wait i am complaining about my complianing...

Also why do the people with 1000's post somehow have some kind of higher religion then us lowly posters with low post totals. People are people. If someone wants to vent fine(no matter how many post they have)(if we could go back a year or two, how many of your post would be complaining post, but that was new complain back then) but to complain about the complaining is complaining about complaining so in the end you are complaining and I am complaining about your complaining about others complaining and all we do is go around and around. Wow that was fun.

snowcow, I know your 1000's post comment is not directed at me, BUT if you did go back in time.... say back to MY join date 2001 you would find a much different BuffettNews site. A site that was alot more fun to hang out on.

When I was complaining about the BN of today vs the BN of old I was simply told if you don't like it go somewhere else - TYA baby. Think about it - if you don't like it why do you come back??

So now I come here with a different attitude - and I post a lot more on other boards.
Well...(said in my best Bubba voice) I've been on sabbatical.

Just becuase someone has a start date from last year or this does not mean that they never viewed the site before. I would come here all the time but was, I do not, shy? about posting. The jb news you get here is second to none. But you have to say to yourself, how in the world does someone get 30k posts. At some point this board or interest in Jimmy is out of wack. And how many of those 30k posts were talking about the same thing you complain about that others post today. Some people take this place too seriously. Sure it can be a fun place and I see alot of you know each other very well and meet in the real world. But all the complaining about complain is more annoying than the complaining to begin with. Most of that seems to be coming form the 1k+ group. What did you think that new people would never come on here? They don't know that two years ago or last summer you talked about X or y or even Z. With that said I love this place and lot of you are great resources and people, just have some restrant for us <1k posters.

Point taken about attitude.... BUT the comment above is how this site has become what it is today... to many of the people have gone away. For good or bad thats how BN has evolved.

Please bear with us as we struggle through these difficult times.

As you can see, the place is kinda out of control at the moment, and I don't know how to redirect everyone's focus on the positive, and get them to bottle the negative up inside themselves. :wink:

I guess why it wears on me, is because complaining on BuffettNews won't change things. I'd suggest taking your complaints direct to Margaritaville, but then I'd worry they would get fed up and the touring would stop.

My outlook all boils down to:

The Serenity Prayer

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.
You’re still grinning, we’re still winning, nothing left to say
I’m still gliding as I go flying down this endless wave

To kinda of take this whole complaining thing a step farther to the society on whole. What happened with tickets prices is what is happening else where, people are getting pinched, gas prices groceries insurance etc. People really have no where to vent their frustrations about these things. Then something they love(buffett) gets priced either above their limit or sensebility and they pop. To make that worse salaries are not raising as fast as these cost and unless you take on an extra job some fun things get pushed out to just get by. I think people on whole are upset about the prices of everything, but for many this was the one joy that got pushed out. Others will pay no matter how much they want, unless people stop going prices will continue to go up.

I've tried voicing similar concerns in the past, namely checking the Setlists forum for just the setlist, not page after page of endless gibberish but that too fell on deaf ears. If I wanna check setlists that contain the songs only I know now to check the Church of Buffett site instead.

As a new member of Buffettnews I can't address the way things use to be, but have noticed how friendly people here have been to me. Thank you all for you warm welcome. Being a newbie, I don't understand all of the "gripes" and I tend to follow threads that interest me. If someone wants to complain, hey, cool, but I don't have to read it. I think pretty soon everyone get's tired of it and if it's ignored most of it goes way. Maybe something like the rollercoaster of complains, there are highs and lows.

As for me, hey, I just want to have a good time and share my enjoyment of songs and general good times that revolve around Jimmy Buffett. Ya know, something to relax with and take my mind off the normal run of the mill stuff. Just my .02 cents, for what it's worth. :)
