I don't know? I got the info from Todd Sniders web site. I will try and find out. I hope that it would be. Sounds like it would be a good show.

I couldn't find any info regarding this on Todd's web site but I did find this by doing a Google search:
Country music icon and Oh Boy Records recording artist Kris Kristofferson will be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame this fall. Formal induction will take place during “The 38th Annual CMA Awards,” which will be broadcast live on the CBS Television Network, Tuesday, Nov. 9 (8:00–11:00 PM/EST) from the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville.

John Prine and Ray Price will also sing songs. This is a tremendous honor for Todd to be part of this. Also, he will be recording a track for an upcoming Kristofferson tribute CD. Todd is researching as we speak to find the perfect song...

It's about time he got inducted. He's probably one of country music's best songwriters.

WITH ALL DUE RESPECT TO KRIS, WHY IS THIS THREAD IN THE RELATED ARTISTS DISCUSSION? I DONT SEE AT ALL HOW HE IS IN ANY WAY RELATED TO JIMMY. PLEASE, LETS POST THIS IN THE OFF-TOPIC AREA OR JUST CHANGE THE TITLE OF THE FORUM TO "MUSIC DISCUSSION". THANKS.

I've been trying to get an answer to that for quite some time now, some BNers have offered their opinions but I've yet to receive a reply of any sort from phjim or a moderator. Until that's clarified I'm going to continue to post items not related to Buffett in Off Tropics. Again, I'm not trying to be argumentative, I'm just asking for some clarification on the purpose of this forum.

The forum description says.
Here you can discuss any other artist.
If Kenny & Alan can be discussed, I would think that Kris, who's been a big influence to the music industry, can also be discussed.
Also, Kris does have something to do with Buffett. Michael Utley toured with Kristopherson in the early 70s. Buffett heard Utley play, liked his music, and invited him to play keyboards on the "A White Sport Coat and a Pink Crustacean" album.
I'm happy Kris is being inducted. He should've been a long time ago.

your attempt on relating Kris to Jimmy is a bit of stretch, but you might be missing my point. It seems that this thread was created to replace the Kenny discussion because people thought every artist should be able to have their own discussion. What i'm saying is unless it has to do with an artist thats pretty closely related to Jimmy, keep it to the off-topic area, or just change the name of this forum

It also says "Related Artists" and goes on to list people that have some sort of direction connection to Buffett such as Todd Snider, Steve Goodman, Jerry Jeff Walker, etc. I see what you're saying but the description is confusing at best. If it's intended for ANY artist besides Buffett the description of this forum should say that but it doesn't. It also doesn't help any that a discussion started about Ben Harper in Off-Tropics was moved here when he has no connection to Buffett whatsoever and a thread started about Ted Nugent has remained in Off-Tropics. So, which is it? Is it a forum for Buffett-related artists only or ANY artist? Again, I'd love to hear from either a moderator or phjim to help set the record straight.
Back to the Kristofferson connection, he, along with Paul Anka are responsible for discovering John Prine and having him signed to his first record deal. Buffett and Prine appear on the cover of Steve Goodman's
Somebody Else's Troubles album.[/quote]

But, dammit, it was a good stretch! Least there's
something that the two of them have in common.

Buffett and Kris have Buzz Cason in common.
Buzz Cason's Credits as a
Singer/Artist Include:
Back-up singer for Roy Orbison, Elvis Presley, Kenny Rogers, Kris Kristofferson, Jimmy Buffett, Conway Twitty, and Billy Swan.
Buzz Cason also owns some of Buffetts early publishing:
Just prior to the founding of Creative, Cason had been introduced to Jimmy Buffett from Mobile by Travis Turk, an engineer at Spar Studio in the Baker Building. The pair had produced Jimmy's first album for Barnaby, "Down to Earth". The subsequent album, "High Cumberland Jubilee", was cut in the new Creative Workshop, where Turk was its' first engineer. Cason continues to publish approximately 50 of Buffett's early compositions. Cason sang background on Buffett's first five LPs for ABC, produced by Gant.

Maybe this should just be an "other artists" section.

GODDAMN PEOPLE - s***. Why don't you pick something more meaningful to b**** about?? Jesus!!! Who cares if it's here or there - the mods nor Jim moved it so quityourbitching!!!
ok mods - I expect you to delete this post in a few.
SOMEONE ANSWER JAHFIN'S QUESTION SO THIS STUPID DEBATE ON WHO WHAT WHERE CAN OTHER MUSICIANS THREADS BE POSTED CAN END.
I mean geez - do you have to play 7 degrees of Jimmy Buffett to put an artst here or complain because someone is?
How about this - Willie Nelson played Armadillo Worlds Headquarters and so did Jimmy. The Willie threads should be here. In fact why don't we just print a list of any venue any artist played and if Jimmy played here you can post here.
IT'S ALL TRIVIAL SH*T
