It's been done. There's also a Blues Tribute but I can't find a pic.
I mean one that features artists that people have actually heard of and namely one that doesn't s***. The ones I've heard have done very little to add to Buffett's music, if anything they took away from it.
as much as you delight in posting about sometimes obscure artists and even you avatar is a band that not everyone has heard of or likes, It surprises me that you would step into mainstream musicland over obscure musicians. Also how do you KNOW that none of those tribute cd's don't s*ck. After all the majority of the people here thing your taste in music s*cks - but at least give it a listen before you say it s*cks.
I'm basing my opinion on the albums I have heard and made that clear in my original post. Want to start another useless p*** match over one person offering their opinion, then take it to a PM. In the real world we all have differing opinons and don't agree on everything, I'm not sure about the world you live in.
I was just voicing MY opinion or am I not allowed. There was nowhere in your original post that indicated you even KNEW of a tribute album much less listened to one.

One thing that would be cool to hear are the artists Buffett has covered (James Taylor, Willis Alan Ramsay, Bruce Cockburn, Jerry Jeff, Guy Clark, Jesse Winchester, etc.) returning the favor but a well done tribute CD wouldn't necessarily have to take that approach. Just for shits n' grins, here's a dream tracklist:

You probably meant that as a joke, but it would be pretty cool, IMO.
You're kidding right?
No, the Drive By Truckers have a gritty Southern Rock sound, and that opening guitar riff in It's Midnight... could really be put to good use by a band like that.
