Bars in Hawaii!

Post by cheetogyrl »

Parrotheadmama and I have decided we need to take a trip to Hawaii in June :D. We'll be staying in Kona on the Big Island for a few days, then it's onto Ka'anapali Beach on Maui. We're always looking for new bars/places to visit while we're there.

We've been to Maui and won't miss CIP in Lahaina but we're not sure about Kona?!?! Any recommendations????

Good and timely question :D

We leave for Hawaii on Saturday. While we are staying on Moloka'i for the week we will be spending the last day in Honolulu and taking a ferry over to Maui on one of the other days, so I'd love to know the "must drink at" locations too :D :D

Be sure to catch Erik The Whaleshark at The Cool Cat Cafe in Lahaina Maui.

Be sure to check out his website and make sure he is going to be there.

I really enjoy his music. I got to hear him last year at Alpine.

Kimo's in Lahaina

Maui Martini Three unique rums aged with brown sugar, pineapple, and vanilla beans. Two's the limit - one's a must

Don't go to the Bubba Gump's in Kona... I heard one of the managers there likes to run around naked dumping beer on people... :P :P :P

Ummmm......that sounds like fun! I've been to Bubba Gump's in Lahaina and loved it but I didn't see any naked people dumping beer on anyone. One of the waiters did make sure to come by and feed me though.

If the Whaleshark is there when we are, we'll most likely go see him. I saw him last year in Vegas at Last Man Standing. I'm just glad he's not at the Whale's Tail anymore......I don't think they'll let me back in that place after the last time I was there!!!

We must have missed the nekked manager while at Bubba Gumps in Kona, but our waiter was from the same town in GA we are from - small world I guess. It does have a nice location on the water.
For a nice beach try Hapuna (i know that isnt spelled right) - its a beautiful white sand beach with great waves for body surfing.

Well since he didn't see my post and ruined all of my fun....

cowboyjunkie (aka - Jason) is a manager at the Bubba Gump's in Kona.. I met him at the Oahu show last week and he's a really nice guy! Shoot him a pm and let him know you'll be in town. He'd probably be glad to give you advice on where to go!

Be sure and tell him Monkey Boy sent you!

The Hula Grill in Ka'anapali is a great place to unwind! Sit in the Barfoot bar in the early evening, watch the sun set, and listen to the live band. It is one of those places where I could sit every night!

Also, the pulled pork sandwich is pretty good.

I just got back from Maui/Kona this morning -- boo!!!!

I would go to "On the Rocks" on Alii Drive in Kona -- ocean view, good Pu Pu's and cocktails.

In Maui -- I always go to Kimo's for Fish Taco's and beers!
I wanna go back to the Island...

See you in Boston, September 2nd!

That's so sad. According to his website; the Denver gig is supposed to be private, but if you e-mail him and/or Tatiana they might be able to get you on the guest list.

I'm totally bummed that The Whaleshark won't be there while we're there. He's leaving the morning that he would normally be playing while I'm there. :( That must mean that I'm supposed to go back again sometime?!?! :D
