I have no idea what to think of it but Ryan's response to the rumors is posted on his web site:

Ryan is as Ryan does. His next album with the Cardinalsl may be named Jacksonville City Nights or it may be called September. The only way to find out is to check the record store on the day of it's release. Same thing goes for the Cardinals. The next time he plays, all of them may or may not be in attendence. There's just no way of telling for sure.

I recently read an article about how he's a "legendary a$$hole" are something along those lines.
He also looks like he could use some soap and a pressure washer.

Those things may well be true but Ryan is sometimes a matter of separating the "art" from the "artist".

Ryan Adams Preps Second CD Of 2005

Post by Jahfin »

From Billboard.com:
http://www.billboard.com/bb/daily/artic ... 1001020632

By Jonathan Cohen, N.Y.

The ever-prolific Ryan Adams will release his second album of 2005 with his band the Cardinals, "Jacksonville City Nights," on Sept. 27 via Lost Highway. As previously reported, the 14-track set is highlighted by the Norah Jones duet "Dear John." It follows the May release of the double album "Cold Roses," which debuted at No. 26 on The Billboard 200.

"It's very, very honky-tonk," Adams told Billboard.com of "September" in late April at the Jammy Awards in New York. He also said a third album, "29," was due for release Nov. 2, but a Lost Highway spokesperson says that project is now tentatively due in December.

Often the whipping boy of critics, Adams recently came under fire after he and the Cardinals canceled a host of tour dates at the last minute. The artist wrote on his official Web site that the band was wiped out by a "bad bug" while touring in Japan and that his "voice was fried." He said he is also suffering from "infected cysts next to my ear canal, causing hearing, balance and throat problems."

And while speculation abounded that the Cardinals may have broken up, Adams said the unit of guitarists J.P. Bowersock and Jon Graboff, drummer Brad Pemberton and bassist Catherine Popper remains together. "Anybody that says otherwise can go f*ck themselves," he proclaimed.

In the meantime, look for the Adams song "Come Pick Me Up" on the "Elizabethtown" soundtrack, due Sept. 13 via RCA, and another new tune, "Words," which appears in the movie.

The artist has also signed on to perform in late October at the inaugural Vegoose festival in Las Vegas.

From a Lost Highway update e-mail -

Ryan Adams & The Cardinals
Jacksonville City Nights

- Yes, the second release from Ryan Adams & The Cardinals this year finally has a firm title. The album will be called Jacksonville City Nights, not September as previously reported. Look for Jacksonville City Nights CD & LP in stores September 27th.

- Also be on the look out for a free DVD with purchase of Jacksonville City Nights. The title for this short film from acclaimed rock photographer and filmmaker Danny Clinch, is September. This 20 minute film shows Ryan Adams & The Cardinals during the writing and recording of Jacksonville City Nights. This DVD will also feature two audio bonus tracks. We plan to have a comprehensive list of all retailers carrying this piece soon!

For those, like myself who missed Ryan's performance on Letterman Friday night, here's a link to an uncensored version of "Come Pick Me Up" from Letterman's site:
