I just received the Henry Kapono CD, "Live Duke's on Sunday." If anyone wants the studio recorded version of Duke's on Sunday, PM me your email address and I will send it to you. If doesnt have Jimmy in it, but it's still a great song with just Henry. He also does some great covers of other songs and has amazing songs of his own. I highly recommend picking up one of his CD's. www.henrykapono.com

Picked up the CD at Duke's on Sunday before the concert. Great CD - recommend it to all. Met him on Maui the Friday before; he was appearing on the Steve Dahl radio program that was being broadcast from the Sheraton

Nice guy - great music

Was finally able to win an ebay auction for a Kapono CD last night. Trying not to spend nearly 20 bucks for one till I can hear more stuff from him. I got Spirit Dancer. It's an older one (1995) but anybody know if its any good?

It's a GREAT one.
I don't have it, but my friend who I stayed with in Hawaii does, and I absolutely LOVE it.
Another great one by him that I DO have is called "Evolution of Poi."

BTW-My friend's wife has an accoustic guitar autographed by Mr. Kapono.
I offered her $50.00 for it. She had a two-word reply, and it wasn't 'happy birthday.'

I tried to get that from ebay last week and the winning bidder ended up paying about 20 cents MORE than he could have gotten it off Kapono's website for! Figured I'll just break down and buy that one and Dukes on Sunday if I like this one.

One of my Magnum PI friends introduced me to Henry Kapono's music. I love it, and make a point to see him perform when I can get to Hawaii.

I'm really kicking myself for not seeing him while I was there! And not just cause Jimmy showed up. I really like his sound, just hadn't really heard it till he sang with Jimmy at the show...

Hmmm.... Now there's an interesting thought! Will they let Steph go though? I've never taken a hop but I was under the impression that only military members are allowed to go. She might get just a wee bit mad at me if I go by myself..

No, they won't, but that means buying one ticket instead of two, and it's a ten minute cab ride from Hickam to the civilian side of the airport, to meet her. 8)

Very true... So I just need to convince her to take a 12 hour flight by herself in leiu of spending an additional $600-700.... Not sure about that one, but it's worth a try!

Other than missing Jimmy doing Margaritaville for the millionth time, you didn't miss much. Henry was good, but he did almost all cover tunes.
