Last year for example
I live in Indiana, so obviously I went to the two Indy shows. Then I went to Chicago (only once, had classes that Thursday), Alpine (please don't flame me for saying that), Cincy, and Columbus, OH. The only real costly road trip was Columbus b/c of two nights in a hotel. My sister lives in Chicago so I had a place to stay for that one and Alpine. Indy's only an hour away so I can drive there and back same day, and Cincy is only 2 1/2-3 hours away so I can make that drive as well. That was six shows! Woulda been seven if I didn't have classes

Ummm stuck in the backseat getting smashed by a giant cooler every time you took a turn...

Ohhh, the mailbox! What was it...all I know is that it had me laughing hysterically. Dang, I KNEW we should have taken a picture.
Oh, and how about that WIND?!

Ya know... I've seen Annies pics from the Pier and beach... but I dont think I ever saw yours...
If I remember correctly, those people that took pics of the 3 of us weren't too good with a camera from the pics I saw
and I need to get copies of her Tampa pics too... I've got your links to the pics saved in Favs...

I didn't take any pics at the beach or pier...we just used Annie's camera and she was gonna send me the pics...although given the conditions I'm not sure I want to see them!
As for shows...the most I've seen in one tour is 3 on the LTC tour: Camden, Vegas, Vegas. I would have tied that on the Tiki Time tour but Shoreline and Irvine were cancelled that year. Funny, this year was the first time I've actually seen Jimmy in Cali...the dates have never worked out for myself and friends in the past and I have been too chicken in the past to just buy a ticket and go by myself and hope I find friends to hang out with.

I don't think that would be the case any more since I know so many folks that go to shows now.
This year I've been to two shows...Tampa and San Jose. Tampa was part of a vacation for me...well...until I broke my leg.

San Jose was on the weekend so wouldn't have had to take off work had I not been on medical leave. I would have tried for more shows such as Santa Barbara, Anaheim and Honolulu but since I am trying to move across the country it wasn't smart to spend my money on shows no matter how much I wanted to go.

I can only speak for myself because my situation is kind of unique, but personally:
working 24 hours a week + my boyfriend is a commercial pilot = lots of free time and a free means to travel.
As for the money, only working 24 hours leaves lots of room to pick up some overtime to pay for the cost of tickets. Also, back in the day when buffett played great woods on labor day... I also used to take my vacation that week.

I got to 1 per year. But I could got to 2 others in a 2 hour drive and 3 others in a 8 hour drive. I get 15 days off a year. And a Buffett trip can be done for $400-$600 per show (room, tixs, etc...).
So I COULD do 4 or 5 per year. But would rather go on vacation than a Buffett show over and over.
Now the PHlockings are another story

Just like a lot of people have said. Living in an area close to many venues (Northeast), having 3 weeks paid vacation, having a spouse that goes along, having a job that pays well, the wife too...It all adds up to seeing Jimmy many times a year!!!
I don't come close to LIPH, but I get to at least 5 or 6 shows a year, and some years when the schedule works out a few more than that.
Also knowing people from BN that live all over the country that are willing to put us up helps too.

The way I do it is very simple, I plan my vacation around Jimmy's shows. I generally will take a week off during his swing through the West and hit as many shows as possible. I don't worry about the number of days off since I have something like 6 weeks of PTO stockpiled. As for money, well, I save money all year long so I can hit several shows. If the shows are in driving distance, we drive, if not, then I shop the deals or I use my frequent flyer miles. I admit I don't 8 shows a year however I do get at least two shows a year in no matter what. A few years ago I managed to work in 6 shows but that was the exception.

Ok..... I really didnt visit the beach 8 times last year... It was more like 25 or 30!
This is the nuttiest thing I have heard yet....
I am lucky to live in Florida where if you count last Nov benefit... I saw 4 shows in 4 months!
However......
#1 Why do you care? AND
#2 What makes it your business?
People have priorities.... if you want something bad enough...you make it work!

We're just trying to make up for lost time from when the kids were little and we weren't able to go to shows because of their activities, etc.
Now that they're older, we're able to go more (imagine...they never want to go along with us

) plus I get June, July, and August off from my job.

Well I got to three shows last year I could have made two more but I chose to go to Denver for laborday weekend
I do know that for a fact there are a couple of Pholks who
made a lot of shows.. Its a hobby If I did not take ten days off
to hunt every year I could make a few more..
there are too many Pholks on this board that make shows
that you run into or phlock with to LIE about it
everyone on this board who travels to more than two shows
sees someone from here. I can't think of one person who does
travel to more than two shows who does not have witness to this fact
WE post pictures WE PHLOCK.. half of the reason I travel to see a show
is to meet (not meat) this pirate crew.
also WE Drunk Dial from shows
kind of hard to fake that isn't it..

It his business because its an interesting question and I am pretty sure the First Amendment still applies.
As for priorities..I saincerely hope that seeing a Jimmy Buffett concert is not considered a priority. If you can see 20 shows a year, more power to you and I am very jealous that I don't have the time to do such things. If thats how you spend your money,. more power to you, its a great return on an investment, as I know well from my younger days. But as I posted somewhere else once, I am eternally grateful I have many more important issues to worry about than planning my life around seeing a Jimmy show. I hate having to "act" responsible...lol!

If you live in the right state, you can see multiple shows very easily. Living in south Florida its different. I can drive to Tampa in 4 hrs or Jacksonville in 6hrs. Its 3 shows but its not as much fun as going state to state.
If the shows are on a Saturday its easier, you just need one day off, maybe two. Went to Vegas last year Thurs-Sun. This year Wrigley Fri-Mon, with Mon being a holiday. This still leaves me plenty of vacation time.

I own two companies that thank god have been successful (knock on wood) and am almost constantly working, so those 10-12 days that i take off for buffett concerts will probably be the only days i take off for a while (excluding the obvious like christmas ect) but im young, with no real responsibilities (no wife no kids) so i figure who not have alittle fun before i cant anymore

I went to 12 last year. Some of them were Saturdays so I only had to take 1 day off from work. For one of the Vegas shows I flew out Saturday morning and came home Sunday night, no days off. For Fenway, I went to the Sunday show and drove back to Long Island that night, no days off.
i know larry is not lying.. everytime i turn around at a tailgate.. there he is.(and heather is someplace close)..

God knows the number of shows we saw back we were struggling through school and had no money....but you have it right. If I had no kids and the money we make right now...we might do a summer seeing every show!
