I think Binions is pretty cheap but I know that is down in old Vegas..
Any suggestions?
Luxor is a classic cheap one. Avoid everything down towards the Stratosphere because they are dumps. Downtown is even worse. If you shop around, you can find great deals at the better places. New York New York is another good cheap option and a perfect location.
Mandalay Bay, The Palms, and Hard Rock have the best crowds and clubs.

The IP is in fact the cheapest place ON the Strip, unless you can get comped some where. Barbary Coast is pretty cheap.
Just keep in mind that Friday and Saturday night rates are typically 3x weekday rates. Also, the longer you wait to book the room, the higher the price will get.
www.vegas.com and www.lasvegas.com are both decent websites to point you in the right direction. However, unlike almost every other city in the world, you'll actually get a cheaper rate by calling the hotel. If you have their version of a "Player's Club" number, you can get even better rates. I've heard of a few of them around.
One additional thought about booking via the hotel...yes, you can get a better rate, but they also don't have to honor your reservation if they've overbooked.
This happened last Oct to several guests. Hubby booked through Expedia so they had to honor our reservation, but the people in line in front of us at check-in had booked via the Flamingo and got bumped to Bally's I think.
Just remember that the monorail hasn't had a wonderful record of working since it officially openned. Something about parts falling off and landing on Paradise Road.
If you are looking for inexpensive in Las Vegas a couple of ideas that might help you. First, try a package of airfare and lodging. Second, don't stay on the Strip, try staying on Paradise or Tropicana. The Motel 6 on Tropicana is running around $69.99 right now, it's across the street from the MGM. The La Quinta on Paradise is running $75.00. Also remember if you happen to be a member of AAA you can frequently get discounts on hotels.

You also have to remember that bacterial disease that was taking over the Flamingo. They offered all the guests in a particular wing the option of moving to another hotel.
Maybe the margarita in each hand of you and hubby told the staff that you had enough alcohol to fight off any sickness.

Well, we were healthy the whole trip....and after.
I forgot about that, though. It was actually Rotovirus. Blech.

The dates are 99.9% guaranteed from what I understand.....if you get a deal, I'd book the room. You can always cancel the reservation if something unexpected happens.
I belive right now I have enough comp points for at least 3 days. I just need to make sure when the shows are exactly so I can put the points down on a room.

also look for info on the key largo hotel/motel. i think it is usually occupied by the pholks from arizona. check all the various travel web sites. travelocity, expedia, orbitz, hotels.com etc. if you think you might get out and about, then look into a rental car, as opposed to the bus or cabs. also as someone has already pointed out, there is a motel 6 across the street from the mgm. there is also another one down tropicana at industrial paralell to the freeway. tommy rockers is fairly close to that one. good luck

You'll have to look really hard. Its not much more than dust now. They bull dozed it over back in November or December.
It was still there last month. Had a fence around it...But still there.
It is still standing....rooms are very cheap now too if you can climb over the fence! (of course you have no electric, gas, phone, cable, or bed.....but the price is right!)
L Phins R wrote:I found that vegas.com has the best search for hotels and prices. But Im sure there are others. Were looking in the area of the Riviera,Stratosphere,Frontier and Stardust. They all seem to run a bit cheaper and we really never spend any time in the hotel anyhow.
Viva Las Vegas Baby!
Just remember that all those hotels are WAYYYYYYYYY on the opposite end of the strip from the MGM (especially the Stratosphere)...so if you like walking A LOT or shelling out a ton of cash on cabs...
...although with the monorail working, it might not be as bad as it was last Oct.
The monorail shut down again earlier this week and trapped passengers inside for a few hours. It's back running again....but definitely does have some kinks.

but by the moments that take our breath away...
Last year we stayed in the motorhome at the Circus Circus RV park for $35.00 a night and used our little scooter to get around. Got a few waves and a few odd looks with my wife on the back in her grass skirt See you on the 29th.

The plans for the old Key Largo parcel include the following......
The owners received approval from the Clark County Planning Commission in November to build a 196-foot condominium tower with 905 units in addition to a 70-foot hotel tower with 344 rooms.
The hotel units would replace the existing 314-room hotel, according to plans filed with the county. The plans didn't specify whether the property's casino would be torn down or redeveloped.
