I am so confident in my source of information, that I have already made my reservations. I am also certain that he will play Wed October 26 in San Diego. I will be in San Diego and the last of the Vegas shows on the 29th. See you there.

The dates are 99.9% guaranteed from what I understand.....if you get a deal, I'd book the room. You can always cancel the reservation if something unexpected happens.

If this is true, and I trust it is, I am in heaven. Couldnt get the overpriced tickets to see Bubba at Wrigley and we were planning on being in Vegas that weekend anyhow. Its my 40th b-day, this will just top it off!!! Has it been a pain to get tickets in the past for those of you lucky enough to have been there before? After the Wrigley/Alpine mess, Im smilin again :D . Ooops sorry, didnt mean to mention Alpine, hope it doesnt start another thread.....

If you think Wrigley is overpriced, you could be in shock when you see the Vegas prices. :-?

I've never had a problem getting tickets for Vegas. Sometimes you can still get them at the box office the day of the show.

Thanks for the info!
In Vegas I expect to pay a bit more for a #1 show, dont get me started on the cost's for a seat in the upper rear deck of Wrigley. Besides Vegas rocks, never had a bad time there!
See ya in October! Now its time for some warm summer fun!

Anyone have good advice on where to stay for relatively cheap (75-100 a night). Being a poor college student I want to find the best value.

I think Binions is pretty cheap but I know that is down in old Vegas..

Any suggestions?

Imperial Palace is pretty cheap...but just about any place on the strip is gonna be $100+. IP has a $125 per nite rate right now for the weekend of 10/28-10/30. The neat thing about IP is that it's RIGHT NEXT to M'ville but you're not paying the price of staying at the Flamingo.

Remember...you can also 'earn' your spending money when in Vegas, although last Oct hubby and I didn't gamble a single cent!

I found that vegas.com has the best search for hotels and prices. But Im sure there are others. Were looking in the area of the Riviera,Stratosphere,Frontier and Stardust. They all seem to run a bit cheaper and we really never spend any time in the hotel anyhow.
Viva Las Vegas Baby!

Just remember that all those hotels are WAYYYYYYYYY on the opposite end of the strip from the MGM (especially the Stratosphere)...so if you like walking A LOT or shelling out a ton of cash on cabs...

...although with the monorail working, it might not be as bad as it was last Oct.

Can I get some more information about the Monorail?

The monorail is decent at best (or so I've heard  ). Its good if you are ending or starting at the MGM or maybe even the Flamingo. What you have to realize is that because the Strip is what it is, the monorail runs BEHIND all the hotels. You'll often end up walking further to get to a monorail station than you would if you just walked to your destination.

If you're just going up and down the Strip, ride the bus or catch a cab to the other end.

(Please note: statements above do not imply that I have ever been to Vegas, nor that I will ever go to Vegas. 8) )

The IP is in fact the cheapest place ON the Strip, unless you can get comped some where. Barbary Coast is pretty cheap.

Just keep in mind that Friday and Saturday night rates are typically 3x weekday rates. Also, the longer you wait to book the room, the higher the price will get.

www.vegas.com and www.lasvegas.com are both decent websites to point you in the right direction. However, unlike almost every other city in the world, you'll actually get a cheaper rate by calling the hotel. If you have their version of a "Player's Club" number, you can get even better rates. I've heard of a few of them around.
