Are there any other fans of Gord's new album out there? His voice is pretty much gone compared to what he used to sound like, but even after 45 years, his songwriting is still amazing. I was fortunate enough to see him in his first concert back. I was glad to see that he was able to get better and get back on the road.

I am a fan of his, and saw him in concert a few times many years ago, but Gordon Lightfoot without that wonderfully clear voice just is not the same. felt that way about Judy Collins voice as well.

I like the Harmony CD. After reading the liner notes and his telling of how the recordings took place the songs kinda take on a different light. For those that don't know about his near death illness it was in Sept 2001 he had an abdominal artery burst and was in a coma for a few weeks.
I saw him before this in April of 2001 and in concert he put's on a pretty good show. Very professional, the show started at 8 and I remember he walked on stage at 2 minutes till and said "I hope everyone is in their seat" and off he started playing. He had a great band, told a few stories, and gave us a solid money's worth 2 and a half hour show. He put out a CD in the 98/99 timeframe called "A Painter Passing Through" and I thought was really good.

I don't know that I'd say his voice is "pretty much gone" -- he sounded pretty good when I saw him a few months back. Sure, his voice doesn't have quite that same mellow ring to it. It's actually a bit more nasal. He's lost some of his range, but I don't think that really impacts negatively. He sang a lot of the old favourites and they sounded great to me.
Agree with ya about the songwriting though, Gord still has the touch!

I used to go see him at Massey hall in the
late 70's and early 80's. Always a great show.
I was just listening to a live set from Switzerland
in 76 the other day. It sure would be nice to see
in concert again

Yeah, me too, Massey Hall, early days.... also the National Arts Centere here in Ottawa, and some outdoor venues too. Last time was at a Canada Day show I think, when he was introduced by the Governor General.... A man I have loved for over 40 years!
I didn't know Stockfish had played for Jim Croce:what a musician!

I've seen him 3 times at Massey Hall and once at Hamilton Place. Where has everyone else seen him play?

I've seen him 3 times here in Cincinnati. Last concert was just before he got sick, we waited outside the venue for the longest time after the concert. Talked with band and crew, nice guys. Eventually this woman, I think she was a woman could have been a bull, came out and was all in our face. Screaming and yelling at us that Gord wasn't coming out until we left and that he would not sign autographs. Gesh lady, it's a public sidewalk. There was just a handfull of people, it really ruined the whole experience. But, we still love him, got most of Gord's albums, including the Gold.

My dad and brother met Gord at the hospital (my brother was in the hospital at the same time as him and they both had checkups on that day). Gord said he'd give an autograph to anyone who wants one and he even asked my dad to go have a coffee with him while my brother was at his appointment and Gord was waiting for his. They chatted for over a half-hour. Gord has been my dad's fav since the 60s and he was so happy to have gotten to sit and chat with his hero. I think he's a very humble man, especially since he got sick. I think he's more approachable if you meet him one-on-one rather than as a group after a concert.

Is anybody gonna be seeing Gord at Massey Hall this weekend? I unfortunately won't, but I got to see him back in November though at Hamilton Place.

Did anyone see Gord at Massey Hall this past weekend? I wish I could have gone but didn't make it.

How old are you? I'm 22 so I know exactly how you feel. I would have loved to have seen Jim Croce in concert, had he not died with only 3 albums under his belt, I think that he would have been the next big star. All the artists that you listed are some of my favs.

Saw his concert at the Universal Studios Amphitheater (the same place where Jimmy had his Y2K concert) in LA in the early 70's. It's a great venue, and Gordon gave a great performance. Still love all his stuff, no matter how many times I hear it.

I wonder if Gord will be at the Toronto show on Monday? That would be cool if he were in the crowd... or better yet on the stage.

Wow, your dad must have been very excited. How lucky for him. You are right Gord does not like crowds.
