Buffett in town?

Post by ToplessRideFL »

I finally dragged myself away from BN this morning and made the normal Saturday morning run around town...

Stopped in the grocery store and CILCIA was playing on the MUZAK.

Then I hit the dry cleaners and the kid behind the counter had his laptop tuned to Radio Margaritaville!

The next stop was the liquor store which didn’t have any Buffett blaring...but was having a sale on Margaritaville Tequila! (Said he had Cinco de Mayo overstock!)

The last stop was the Dollar Store... the best place in town to burn a $20 and feel like you hit pay dirt....And I know you won't believe it, but I walk in and hear the Eagles finishing up Desperado...and the next song was Jimmy's Presents to Send you...with words, not just MUZAK!

I just was amazed by the irony of it all!

I don't know the last time I even heard Margaritaville in NYC. Yet they manage to blog the airwaves with people who really aren't that good. :-? :-? :-? .

I once called into a radio station to request a Buffett tune (I think it was Margaritaville.) The DJ said they already played it and they have a no repeat policy. I requested that they play Fins, Come Monday, Cheeseburger, or anything, and the DJ said they couldn't play it. The producer wouldn't let them and that even the DJ had requested to play more Buffett tunes but the producer wouldn't let him. :-? :-? :-?

In NYC its complete B$ that they don't play more, I swear, do that many people really like Cher? cautiously ducking

Sometimes more than others,
we see who and what and where we are,
I'm just a one man band,
With my feet in the sand,
Tonight I just need my guitar

The radio stations in this city are just horrific... The only one that's even tolerable is Q104 but even I get sick of hearing Pink Floyd and the Doors every other freakin' song!

I guess we get alot of Buffett here in Florida for obvious reasons...

Isn't there a 70's station in NYC? That might be the place to request it from (?)

Yes, 101.1 CBS FM plays hits from the 50s, 60s, and 70s. Good place to catch Margaritaville or even A Pirate Looks at 40 if your lucky (Only heard it once) I'm pretty sure Jimmy is only getting more radio time now that License to Chill came out, but either way, it's good to hear him on the radio.

We have a specialty/health/grocery store here called TRADER JOE's....they have surprised me on a couple of occassions. I stopped dead in my tracks the day 'The Hang Out Gang' started playing...and was pleasantly surprised to hear the "hidden track" 'Tree Top Flyer' on another journey there.

Not only do they have the best price on my fav brand of Tequila, but sometimes you get the bonus of a good tune while you are there! 8)

My wife and I and another couple have been vactioning together for nine years and for the past eight years, we have always taken Banana Wind with us. A year and a half ago, we went to Sunset Beach Resort in Montego Bay and my wife (it always some woman's fault) left the CD in the car in Philly. Of course, I was pouting since that's my favorite album. Wouldn't you know, two hours after we check in we are sitting at the bar overlooking the bay and Only Time Will Tell comes on and is followed by the entire CD. It was the only JB they played all week, that we heard.

made my entire vacation. Funny how JB can do that! Oh, and I forgave my wife :pirate:

Just because SOASOAPT says your o.k. I must warn you do not go into a Wally-World because that huge evil retail giant plays quite alot of Buffett on their company in-store radio station.
